Source text - English * This is an extract from my translation work "Eating Viet Nam," called "맛있는 베트남" in Korean, one of four books I translated.
Equally disgraceful is the unfathomable shambles of Viet Nam's airport food offerings. If there were one place you'd want to leave a good impressions of your food, it would be at an international airport. But instead, both in Ha Noi and Sai Gon, it was all racks of instant noodles, nasty, cheap sandwiches, stale French fires, and hot dogs. Where there should be the glittering nymph who sprinkles magical street food fairy dust across the land, instead there's the impish cousin with her sack of kitchen horrors. Viet Nam, you should be ashamed of yourself for the awfulness of your airport offerings.
Translation - Korean 베트남 공항의 헤아릴 수 없이 많던 낡은 음식점들도 똑같이 볼품없어졌다. 내가 파는 음식에 대해 좋은 인상을 남기고 싶은 곳이 하나 있다면 그곳은 바로 국제공항이 될 것이다. 하지만 하노이와 사이공은 모두 인스턴트 국수나 불쾌한 싸구려 샌드위치, 딱딱한 후렌치후라이, 핫도그로만 가득했다. 반짝이는 님프가 마법의 길거리 음식 꽃가루를 뿌리고 있어야 할 그 곳에 도깨비 같은 얼뜨기가 주방의 호러를 가득 담은 보따리를 들고 서 있었다. 공항에서 이런 거나 팔고 있다니, 베트남은 부끄러운 줄 알아야 한다.
