Introduction: Acoustic neurinomas are benign tumors that arise from the Schwann cells of the vestibular section of the eighth cranial nerve and are located in the cerebellopontine angle or in the inner auditory canal. It is the most frequent (80-90%) tumor of the cerebellopontine angle in adults and is localized on one side in more than 95% of cases. In children, acoustic neurinomas are very rare and are primarily associated with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). In these cases the acoustic neurinomas typically occur on both sides. The occurrence of a unilateral acoustic neurinoma in children under age 15 without NF2 is extremely rare. This case report is of a child with a unilateral, very large acoustic neurinoma with intracranial and extra-cranial components that was operated twice with low morbidity. | Translation - Chinese

Characteristic manufactory elements down to the last detail: each of the hand-engraved cocks and balance bridges are unique. This high art comprises engraving a design onto a minute space without the use of a pre-stencilled pattern. After the nickel-plating and ensuing gold-plating of the cocks, the tender valleys of the engravings are filled with a special protective varnish with the air of a microscope.
