Source text - English A priority notice provides an inexpensive and simple way of preventing new legal interests in the land being registered prior to registration of the relevant dealing on the title for land.
A Priority Notice will:
Protect the interests of parties to an intended instrument or transaction (e.g. a transfer) by reserving priority on title for the dealing(s) identified in the Priority Notice; and
Assist with fraud prevention, by identifying a priority on title, ensuring that the scheduled transaction is not displaced by another transaction.
Priority Notices:
reserve priority for the transaction set out in the priority notice;
notify parties searching the title that the transaction is pending;
assist in fraud prevention, as notification of pending transactions will increase the likelihood of a fraud being detected;
improve the accuracy of title searches currently no record of a conveyance appears on the Certificate of Title until the relevant dealings have been data entered.
Priority notices reserve priority for an unregistered interest in land, and give notice to the rest of the world of a proposed registration of an instrument (which is a document such as a transfer or a mortgage). For example, when property is sold, the purchaser may register a priority notice for the transfer. If the purchase is being financed by way of a mortgage over the property, the Bank may also lodge a priority notice.
Priority is a way of establishing who has the first interest in property, and because the Torrens System is a system of title by registration, priority (or “first in time”) is an essential feature.
Priority Notice was originally introduced to protect gazumping; the practice where a vendor would accept a higher offer subsequent to the original agreement to sell.

Nel 2008 è stata Striscia la Notizia a svelare possibili malversazioni nell'uso dei fondi dell'associazione umanitaria C.I.A.K. (Construction Intelligent Association Kids), che aveva fondato e di cui era presidente.
Il tutto portò a un il rinvio a giudizio per truffa aggravata, appropriazione indebita, falso ideologico e materiale e uso di atto falso. E l’anno dopo fu condannato in primo grado a 3 anni di reclusione per truffa e appropriazione indebita, venendo prosciolto dall'accusa di falso.
