Source text - English Environmental economics deals with aspects of interdependence and interaction between human beings and the environment. Since many environmental assets, goods, amenities, and services have no markets and hence either have no prices, or have prices that are distorted, most environmental problems could be considered as problems of non-optimal pricing (Pearce 1976: 3). In other words, environmental problesm arise from non-existence or failure of markets. Environmental economics deals with non-market goods, amenities and services provided by Mother Nature.
Translation - Marathi मनुष्यप्राणी आणि पर्यावरण यांचे परस्परावलंबीत्व आणि त्यांच्यातील परस्परक्रिया यांचा पर्यावरणीय अर्थशास्त्र या विषयात अभ्यास केला जातो. बरीचशी नैसर्गिक साधने, सामुग्री, सुविधा आणि सेवा यांची विशिष्ट अशी बाजारपेठ नसल्याने त्यांची मूल्यनिश्चिती झालेली नसते किंवा त्यांचे मूल्य विपर्यस्त झालेले असते. त्यामुळे त्यातून निर्माण होणाऱ्या बऱ्याचशा पर्यावरणीय समस्यांना अपर्याप्त किंमतनिर्धारणाच्या समस्या म्हणावे लागेल (पिअर्स, १९७६:३). दुसऱ्या शब्दांत सांगायचे झाल्यास बाजारपेठा नसल्याने अथवा बाजारपेठा अपयशी ठरल्याने पर्यावरणीय समस्या निर्माण होतात. निसर्गाने बहाल केलेल्या आणि ज्यांना बाजारपेठ नाही अशा वस्तु, सुविधा आणि सेवा यांच्याशी पर्यावरणीय अर्थशास्त्राचा प्रामुख्याने संबंध येतो.
