Source text - Greek Μέχρι τη στιγμή που οι Βακχιάδες:
Ο Βάκχις ήταν γιος του Διονύσου και ζούσε στην Κόρινθο. Οι απόγονοί του αποτελούσαν μια ονομαστή αριστοκρατική οικογένεια, η οποία εξορίστηκε από την Κόρινθο εξαιτίας του φόνου του Ακταίωνα. Αιτία της εξορίας στάθηκε το εξής γεγονός. Ο Μέλισσος, επειδή ευεργετήσε τους Κορινθίους – διότι τους έσωσε, ενώ επρόκειτο να αφανιστούν από τον βασιλιά του Άργους Φείδωνα- απολάμβανε μεγάλες τιμές από αυτούς και κάποτε οι Βακχιάδες, αφού μπήκαν κατά τη διάρκεια της νύχτας στην οικία του Ακταίωνα, θέλησαν να αρπάξουν το παιδί· επειδή όμως οι γονείς του πρόβαλαν σθεναρή αντίσταση, αποτέλεσμα της συμπλοκής ήταν να διαμελιστεί ο Ακταίωνας. Ο Μέλισσος, ενώ επρόκειτο να αρχίσει η εορτή των Ισθμίων, στάθηκε μπροστά στο βωμό και εκστόμισε βαριές κατάρες εναντίον των Κορινθίων σε περίπτωση που δεν έπαιρναν εκδίκηση για το φόνο του Ακταίωνα· μόλις τελείωσε το λόγο του, ρίχτηκε στο διπλανό γκρεμό. Οι Κορίνθιοι, επειδή φοβήθηκαν να αφήσουν το θάνατο του Ακταίωνα χωρίς εκδίκηση, αφού μάλιστα είχε δοθεί θεϊκό σημάδι και εντολή, εκδίωξαν τους Βακχιάδες. Ο Χερσικράτης όμως, ένας από την οικογένεια των Βακχιάδων, αποίκισε την Κέρκυρα, αφού έδιωξε τους Κόλχους που ζούσαν εκεί· κι αυτοί αφού εκδιώχθηκαν, πήγαν και εγκαταστάθηκαν στην Ήπειρο.

Bacchis was the son of Dionysus and lived in Corinth. His descendants belonged to a well-known noble family, which was banished from Corinth due to the murder of Actaeon. The cause of their banishment was the following incident. Because Melissos benefited the Corinthians -by saving them, while they were about to be destroyed by the king of Argos, Pheidon- he was praised and honored by them and sometimes, during the night, the Bacchiadae broke into the house of Actaeon and wanted to abduct the child; but because his parents resisted and fought, Actaeon was killed and his body was dismembered. While the celebration of Isthmia was about to begin, Melissos stood before the altar and uttered heavy curses against the Corinthians, if they would not take revenge for the murder of Actaeon; once he said that, he threw himself into the cliff next to him. Because they were afraid not to avenge the death of Actaeon, especially while a divine sign and order had been given, the Corinthians drove out the Bacchiadae family. Hersicrates though, one of the Bacchiadae, settled in Corfu, after he drove out the Colchians who were already living there; after they were driven away, they went and established themselves in Epirus.

Source text - English Mykonos is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos.
The island spans an area of 85.5 square kilometres and rises to an elevation of 341 metres (1,119 feet) at its highest point.
There are 10,134 inhabitants most of whom live in the largest town, Mykonos, which lies on the west coast.
The town is also known as Chora (i.e. the Town in Greek, following the common practice in Greece when the name of the island itself is the same as the name of the principal town).
Mykonos' nickname is The island of the winds. Tourism is a major industry. Widely known for its nightlife, Mykonos is called "Ibiza of Greece" for its summer club scene which attracts very large numbers of tourists every year.
History
Archaeological findings suggest the presence of the Neolithic tribe Kares on the island in 3000 BC, but the first real settlers seem to be the Ionians from Athens in the early 11th century BC.
There were many people living on the neighbouring island of Delos, just 2 km (1.2 miles) away, which meant that Mykonos became an important place for supplies and transit.
It was, however, during ancient times a rather poor island with limited agricultural resources and only two towns.
Its inhabitants were pantheists and worshipped many gods.
Mykonos came under the control of the Romans during the reign of the great Roman Empire and then became part of theByzantine Empire until the 12th century.
In 1204, with the fall of Constantinople in the Fourth Crusade, Mykonos was occupied by Andrea Ghisi, a relative of the Doge of Venice.
The island was ravaged by the Catalans at the end of the 13th century and finally given over to direct Venetian rule in 1390.
In 1537, while the Venetians still reigned, Mykonos was attacked by Hayreddin Barbarossa, the infamous admiral ofSuleiman the Magnificent, and an Ottoman fleet established itself on the island.
The Ottomans, under the leadership ofKapudan Pasha, imposed a system of self-governance comprising a governor and an appointed council of syndics.
When the castle of Tinos fell to the Ottomans in 1718, the last of the Venetians withdrew from the region.

Υπήρχαν πολλοί άνθρωποι που ζούσαν στο γειτονικό νησί της Δήλου, μόλις 2 χιλιόμετρα (1,2 μίλια) μακριά, πράγμα που σήμαινε ότι η Μύκονος έγινε ένα σημαντικό μέρος προμηθειών και διαμετακόμισης.
Ήταν, ωστόσο, κατά την αρχαιότητα ένα μάλλον φτωχό νησί με περιορισμένους γεωργικούς πόρους και μόνο δύο πόλεις.
Οι κάτοικοί της ήταν πανθεϊστές και λάτρευαν πολλούς θεούς.
Η Μύκονος τέθηκε υπό τον έλεγχο των Ρωμαίων κατά τη διάρκεια κυριαρχίας της μεγάλης Ρωμαϊκής Αυτοκρατορίας και στη συνέχεια έγινε μέρος της Βυζαντινής Αυτοκρατορίας μέχρι τον 12ο αιώνα.

Οι Οθωμανοί, υπό την ηγεσία του Καπουδάν Πασά, επέβαλε ένα σύστημα αυτο-διακυβέρνησης, το οποίο περιελάμβανε ένα διοικητή και ένα καθορισμένο Συμβούλιο των επιτρόπων.
Όταν το κάστρο της Τήνου έπεσε στους Οθωμανούς το 1718, οι τελευταίοι των Βενετών αποσύρθηκαν από την περιοχή.

Promachus endured them all hoping to achieve his goal, but he does not succeed, so he embittered Leukokomas, by offering his last of his trophies (a renowned helmet) to another beautiful young man, who was around there, in front of Leukokomas’s eyes; And he [Leukokomas], being unable to manage his envy, thrusts his sword in him, committing suicide.
