Indonesian to English: Cindelaras
Source text - Indonesian Kerajaan Jenggala dipimpin oleh seorang raja yang bernama Raden Putra. Ia didampingi oleh seorang permaisuri yang baik hati dan seorang selir yang memiliki sifat iri dan dengki. Raja Putra dan kedua istrinya tadi hidup di dalam istana yang sangat megah dan damai. Hingga suatu hari selir raja merencanakan sesuatu yang buruk pada permaisuri raja. Hal tersebut dilakukan karena selir Raden Putra ingin menjadi permaisuri.
Selir baginda lalu berkomplot dengan seorang tabib istana untuk melaksanakan rencana tersebut. Selir baginda berpura-pura sakit parah. Tabib istana lalu segera dipanggil sang Raja. Setelah memeriksa selir tersebut, sang tabib mengatakan bahwa ada seseorang yang telah menaruh racun dalam minuman tuan putri. "Orang itu tak lain adalah permaisuri Baginda sendiri," kata sang tabib. Baginda menjadi murka mendengar penjelasan tabib istana. Ia segera memerintahkan patih untuk membuang permaisuri ke hutan dan membunuhnya
Sang Patih segera membawa permaisuri yang sedang mengandung itu ke tengah hutan belantara. Tapi, patih yang bijak itu tidak mau membunuh sang permaisuri. Rupanya sang patih sudah mengetahui niat jahat selir baginda. "Tuan putri tidak perlu khawatir, hamba akan melaporkan kepada Baginda bahwa tuan putri sudah hamba bunuh," kata patih. Untuk mengelabui raja, sang patih melumuri pedangnya dengan darah kelinci yang ditangkapnya. Raja merasa puas ketika sang patih melapor kalau ia sudah membunuh permaisuri.
Setelah beberapa bulan berada di hutan, sang permaisuri melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki. Anak itu diberinya nama Cindelaras. Cindelaras tumbuh menjadi seorang anak yang cerdas dan tampan. Sejak kecil ia sudah berteman dengan binatang penghuni hutan. Suatu hari, ketika sedang asyik bermain, seekor rajawali menjatuhkan sebutir telur ayam. Cindelaras kemudian mengambil telur itu dan bermaksud menetaskannya. Setelah 3 minggu, telur itu menetas menjadi seekor anak ayam yang sangat lucu. Cindelaras memelihara anak ayamnya dengan rajin. Kian hari anak ayam itu tumbuh menjadi seekor ayam jantan yang gagah dan kuat. Tetapi ada satu yang aneh dari ayam tersebut. Bunyi kokok ayam itu berbeda dengan ayam lainnya. "Kukuruyuk... Tuanku Cindelaras, rumahnya di tengah rimba, atapnya daun kelapa, ayahnya Raden Putra...",kokok ayam itu.
Cindelaras sangat takjub mendengar kokok ayamnya itu dan segera memperlihatkan pada ibunya. Lalu, ibu Cindelaras menceritakan asal usul mengapa mereka sampai berada di hutan. Mendengar cerita ibundanya, Cindelaras bertekad untuk ke istana dan membeberkan kejahatan selir baginda. Setelah di ijinkan ibundanya, Cindelaras pergi ke istana ditemani oleh ayam jantannya. Ketika dalam perjalanan ada beberapa orang yang sedang menyabung ayam. Cindelaras kemudian dipanggil oleh para penyabung ayam. "Ayo, kalau berani, adulah ayam jantanmu dengan ayamku," tantangnya. "Baiklah," jawab Cindelaras. Ketika diadu, ternyata ayam jantan Cindelaras bertarung dengan perkasa dan dalam waktu singkat, ia dapat mengalahkan lawannya. Setelah beberapa kali diadu, ayam Cindelaras tidak terkalahkan.
Berita tentang kehebatan ayam Cindelaras tersebar dengan cepat hingga sampai ke Istana. Raden Putra akhirnya pun mendengar berita itu. Kemudian, Raden Putra menyuruh hulu balangnya untuk mengundang Cindelaras ke istana. "Hamba menghadap paduka," kata Cindelaras dengan santun. "Anak ini tampan dan cerdas, sepertinya ia bukan keturunan rakyat jelata," piker baginda. Ayam Cindelaras diadu dengan ayam Raden Putra dengan satu syarat, jika ayam Cindelaras kalah maka ia bersedia kepalanya dipancung, tetapi jika ayamnya menang maka setengah kekayaan Raden Putra menjadi milik Cindelaras.
Dua ekor ayam itu bertarung dengan gagah berani. Tetapi dalam waktu singkat, ayam Cindelaras berhasil menaklukkan ayam sang Raja. Para penonton bersorak sorai mengelu-elukan Cindelaras dan ayamnya. "Baiklah aku mengaku kalah. Aku akan menepati janjiku. Tapi, siapakah kau sebenarnya, anak muda?" Tanya Baginda Raden Putra. Cindelaras segera membungkuk seperti membisikkan sesuatu pada ayamnya. Tidak berapa lama ayamnya segera berbunyi. "Kukuruyuk... Tuanku Cindelaras, rumahnya di tengah rimba, atapnya daun kelapa, ayahnya Raden Putra...," ayam jantan itu berkokok berulang-ulang. Raden Putra terperanjat mendengar kokok ayam Cindelaras. "Benarkah itu?" Tanya baginda keheranan. "Benar Baginda, nama hamba Cindelaras, ibu hamba adalah permaisuri Baginda."
Bersamaan dengan itu, sang patih segera menghadap dan menceritakan semua peristiwa yang sebenarnya telah terjadi pada permaisuri. "Aku telah melakukan kesalahan," kata Baginda Raden Putra. "Aku akan memberikan hukuman yang setimpal pada selirku," lanjut Baginda dengan murka. Kemudian, selir Raden Putra pun di buang kehutan. Raden Putra segera memeluk anaknya dan meminta maaf atas kesalahannya. Setelah itu, Raden Putra dan hulu baling segera menjemput permaisuri kehutan..Akhirnya Raden Putra, permaisuri dan Cindelaras dapat berkumpul kembali. Setelah Raden Putra meninggal dunia, Cindelaras menggantikan kedudukan ayahnya. Ia memerintah negerinya dengan adil dan bijaksana.
Translation - English Jenggala Kingdom was ruled by a King named Raden Putra. He had a generous Queen and an envious and malicious mistress. The King and his wives lived in a very big and peaceful castle. Until one day, the mistress prepared a bad plan for the Queen. She made the plan because she wanted to be the Queen.
The mistress made a coalition with the kingdom’s physician to execute the plan. The mistress pretended like she had a very terrible ill. The physician was immediately called by the King to check the mistress’ condition. After checking the mistress, the physician said that someone put some potions into the mistress’s drink. “The one who did this is the Queen, your grace.” said the physician. The King became so angry after hearing the physician’s explanation. The King asked his vicegerent to exile the Queen to the forest and kill her.
Afterward the vicegerent brought the Queen who was pregnant into the middle of the forest. But, the wise vicegerent did not want to kill the Queen. He already knew the bad intention of the Mistress. “You don’t need to worry, my Queen. I will inform to the King that I have killed you.” Said the Vicegerent. Then he smeared his sword with the rabbit’s blood that he caught to fool the King. The King was pleased when hearing the news that his vicegerent already killed the Queen.
After a few months, the Queen gave a birth to a boy named Cindelaras. Cindelaras grew up and became a smart and handsome boy. He made friends with the forester. One day, when Cindelaras was playing around, a hawk dropped a chicken egg. Then, Cindellaras took the egg and he wanted to hatch it. After three weeks, the egg became a cute chick. He diligently took care of his chick. Days passed, the cute chick grew up and became a strong rooster. But, this rooster is very unique, it crowed differently from other roosters. It crowed “Cock-a-doodle-do... Cindelaras is my master, his house in the jungle, coconut leaves is his gambrel, Raden Putra is his father...”
Cindelaras was shocked when hearing his rooster crowed. He immediately showed the uniqueness of his rooster to his mother. Then, her mother told him the truth. After hearing his mother story, Cindelaras wanted to go to the kingdom and tell what the mistress had done. Getting permission from his mother, Cindelaras went to the kingdom with his rooster. In the middle of his journey, Cindelaras met some persons who had a cockfight. Then, one of the cockfighters called Cindelaras. “Let our rooster fight if you are brave enough.” said the cock fighter. “Alright.” Cindelaras answered. Cindelaras’ rooster fought very well, in a short time, Cindelaras’ rooster won the fight. After several fights, Cindelaras’ rooster is unbeatable.
A rumor about the greatness of Cindelaras’ rooster spread to the kingdom. The King heard about the rumor. Then, the King asked his commander to invite Cindelaras to the kingdom. “My honour to meet you, my majesty.” said Cindelaras politely. “This boy is handsome and smart, like he is not a low class person.” thought the King. Cindelaras’ rooster was fought against the King’s rooster with a rule. If Cindelaras’ rooster was defeated, Cindelaras’ head would be cut off. But, if the King’s rooster was defeated, he would give a half of his wealth to Cindelaras.
Two roosters fought robustly. But in a short time, Cindelaras’ rooster won against the King’s rooster. “Alright, I lose. I will fulfill my promise, but let me know who you really are, young man.” said the King. Then, Cindelaras bent down and murmured to his rooster “Cock-a-doodle-do... Cindelaras is my master, his house in the jungle, coconut leaves is his gambrel, Raden Putra is his father...” the rooster crowed for many times. The King was shocked. “Is that true?” asked the King. “Yes, it is, my King. My name is Cindelaras and my mother is your Queen.”
Along with it, the vicegerent came and told the truth. “I have a made mistake.” said the King. “I will give the same punishment to my mistress” the King continued angrily. Then, the mistress was exiled to the forest. The King hugged his son and apologized for his mistakes. After that, the King and his commander picked up the queen in the forest immediately. Finally the King, the Queen, and Cindelaras could live together. After the King passed away, Cindelaras replaced him. He ruled his palace fairly and wisely.
