BANDO DI CONCORSO
1 - TIPO DI CONCORSO
In occasione del XXXXXXXXXXX 2011, XXX bandisce un Concorso Internazionale di design volto alla promozione della progettazione di oggetti, strutture o mobili che utilizzino prevalentemente sfridi industriali e materie prime seconde, in seguito precisati, portandoli all’attenzione di imprese che realizzano sia prodotti seriali che tailormade.
Per materie prime seconde si intendono le eccedenze di lavorazione in genere, recuperate direttamente negli stabilimenti, mentre con sfridi si definiscono gli scarti di materiale espulsi dalla matrice a fine taglio, ovvero la quota di materia prima, o eventualmente già trasformata, che verrebbe scartata durante le lavorazioni.
2 – CONTENUTI E OBIETTIVI
L’obiettivo del concorso è diffondere un approccio alternativo ai concetti di design e di progetto, come processi progettuali critici, con particolare riguardo all’ottimizzazione delle risorse; il concorso si propone di fungere da ponte tra chi è in grado di immaginare e soprattutto ripensare gli oggetti e chi è in grado di produrli, connettendo designer di tutto il mondo e imprese sul territorio.
3 – SVOLGIMENTO DEL CONCORSO
I partecipanti sono tenuti a realizzare i loro oggetti/progetti partendo dalla selezione di materie prime seconde e sfridi contenute nel piccolo kit che XXXX provvederà ad inviare al momento dell’avvenuta iscrizione.

1. TYPE OF COMPETITION
On the occasion of the 2011 XXXXXXXXXXX XXX has published an international design competition aimed at promoting the design of objects, structures or furniture that use mainly industrial excess materials and secondary raw materials, which will be subsequently specified, with the target to attract companies that manufacture both serial and tailor-made products.
By secondary raw materials we mean any production scraps, directly recovered in factories, whilst by excess material we mean any scrap material ejected from the die at the end of the cut, i.e. the amount of raw material or possibly already processed material, which would be usually wasted during the manufacturing process.
2 – CONTENTS AND TARGETS
The target of the competition is to spread an alternative approach applied to the design and project concepts, as critical project processes, with a focus on the optimization of sources. The competition aims at acting as a bridge between those able to imagine and especially rethink objects and those who can actually produce them, connecting designers throughout the world and companies based locally.
3 – COMPETITION STRUCTURE
Partecipants will have to complete their objects/ projects starting from the selection of secondary raw materials and excess materials they will find in the small kit XXXX will send once their registration is completed.

Source text - English The Injection Molding Process
Injection Molding is the process of forcing melted plastic into a mold cavity.
Once the plastic has cooled, the part can be ejected. Injection molding is often used in mass-production and prototyping. Injection molding is a relatively new way to manufacture parts. The first injection molding machines were built in the 1930's.
There are six major steps in the injection molding process:
1. Clamping
An injection molding machine constists of three basic parts: the mold, the clamping and injection units. The clamping unit is what holds the mold under pressure during the injection and cooling. Basically, it holds the two halves of the injection mold together.
2. Injection
During the injection phase, plastic material, usually in the form of pellets, are loaded into a hopper on top of the injection unit. The pellets feed into the cylinder where they are heated until they reach molten form (think of how a hot glue gun works here). Within the heating cylinder there is a motorized screw that mixes the molten pellets and forces them to end of the cylinder. Once enough material has accumulated in front of the screw, the injection process begins. The molten plastic is inserted into the mold through a sprue, while the pressure and speed are controlled by the screw. Note: some injection molding machines use a ram instead of a screw.
3. Dwelling
The dwelling phase consits of a pause in the injection process. The molten plastic has been injected into the mold and the pressure is applied to make sure all of the mold cavities are filled.
4. CoolingThe plastic is allowed to cool to its solid form within the mold.
5. Mold Opening
The clamping unit is opened, which seperates the two halves of the mold.
6. Ejection
An ejecting rod and plate eject the finished piece from the mold. The un-used sprues and runners can be recycled for use again in future molds.
Advantages of Injection Molding:

Disadvantages of Injection Molding:

Lo stampaggio a iniezione riguarda il processo di far entrare a forza della plastica fusa nella cavità di uno stampo. Una volta che la plastica si è raffreddata la parte è rilasciata. Lo stampaggio a iniezione è spesso usato nella produzione di massa e nella prototipazione. E’ un modo piuttosto nuovo di produrre parti in plastica. Le prime macchine per lo stampaggio a iniezione furono costruite negli anni 30.
Ci sono sei fasi principali nello stampaggio a iniezione:
1. Chiusura
Una macchina a iniezione è composta da tre parti di base: lo stampo, la chiusura e le unità di iniezione. L’unità di chiusura è la parte che trattiene lo stampo sotto pressione durante l’iniezione e il raffreddamento. In pratica, tiene insieme le due metà dello stampo.
2. Iniezione
Durante la fase dell’iniezione, il materiale plastico, solitamente in forma granulare, è caricato nella tramoggia. I grani vengono immessi nel cilindro in cui vengono riscaldati fino a quando sono fusi. All’interno del cilindro di riscaldamento si trova una vite a punzone che mischia i grani fusi e li spinge in fondo al cilindro. Una volta che sufficiente materiale si è accumulato nella parte anteriore della vite, il processo di iniezione inizia. La plastica fusa è inserita all’interno dello stampo tramite una materozza , mentre pressione e velocità sono controllati dalla viteNota: Alcune macchine per lo stampaggio a iniezione usano uno stantuffo invece di una vite.
3. Fase di sosta
La fase di sosta è una pausa nel processo di stampaggio a iniezione. La plastica fusa è stata iniettata e la pressione è applicata per assicurarsi che le cavità dello stampo siano riempite.
4. Raffreddamento
La plastica, raffreddandosi, si solidifica all’interno dello stampo.
5. Apertura dello stampo
La morsa viene aperta e le due metà dello stampo sono separate.
6. Uscita della parte stampata
Il sistema di chiusura rilascia il pezzo finito dallo stampo. Gli ugelli non usati e le camere possono essere riciclate per l’utilizzo in stampi futuri.
Vantaggi dello Stampaggio a Iniezione:

Alte tolleranze, ripetibili
Può essere usata un’ampia gamma di materiali

VVV employees from all over Europe and South Africa came to work with XXX representative M. L. and our team members to learn more about their modules as well as learn XXX shortcuts and navigating tips. During the evenings the group tried to leave 11i at work and enjoy getting reacquainted. Midweek the group was taken to Oxford to go punting.Punting is a sport that was conceived in Oxford in the 1860s and although it is very popular in England, its popularity did not spread outside of the country. Here’s how it works, a punting boat is long and flat- bottomed, the way to steer and push the boat is by using a very long aluminum or wooden pole. The driver stands at the back of the boat and pushes it along, much like a gondola. There were about four VVV boats and only one was able to maneuver easily down the Cherwell River.Even though not everyone was successful in their punting, the group had a great time getting outside and getting to know each other. Before the Go Live of our European and South African sites, there will be more training sessions planned. The second will be taking place in October at various sites including Tournus and Gruningen. We look forward to meeting with you again and furthering our expertise in XXX.
Welcome the X Reporter!Earlier this summer C. W., XXX Project Leader, decided it would be a good idea to create and distribute a monthly newsletter. His goal was to keep it lighthearted but also contain interesting information about the XXX project. The person Chris chose to “own” this newsletter project was his newest team member, M. C. He knew that she had a year or so studying journalism in school and also enjoyed being creative and so would be a good person for the job. The only problem is that just one person might have trouble coming up with interesting stories from month to month. We need your help! As your site prepares for their Go Live, interesting stories from training sessions or visits to the sites might come up. I dipendenti VVV sono venuti dall’intera Europa e dal Sudafrica per lavorare con M. L., rappresentante di XXX, ed i membri del nostro gruppo, per conoscere meglio i loro moduli, shortcut e consigli per ottimizzare la navigazione. Durante le serate il gruppo lasciava lavorare XXX e si rilassava. A metà settimana il team è stato accompagnato ad Oxford per fare punting. Il punting è uno sport inventato ad Oxford negli anni ‘60 dell’Ottocento e, anche se molto popolare in Inghilterra, non è conosciuto all’estero. Ecco come funziona: la barca da punting è lunga e dal fondo piatto, per virare e spingere la barca si utilizza un palo molto lungo in alluminio o legno. Il conducente è in piedi sul lato posteriore della barca e la spinge lungo il fiume, come fosse una gondola. C’erano circa quattro barche VVV e solo uno dei conducenti è stato in grado di guidare la barca sul fiume Cherwell senza difficoltà. Anche se non tutti sono riusciti ad eccellere nel punting, il gruppo si è divertito molto a stare all’aperto e a fare la conoscenza degli altri membri. Prima della Distribuzione dei nostri siti europei e sudafricani sono state programmate più sessioni di formazione. La seconda si terrà ad Ottobre presso diversi siti, compresi Tournus e Gruningen. Vi scrivo in merito ad un serio disguido accaduto sul volo XXXX delle ore 7:20 del giorno sabato XXX e diretto da XXX a XXX.
Il volo è partito senza imbarcare alcune persone nonostante queste avessero effettuato un regolare check-in con consegna dei bagagli, secondo le modalità ed i tempi previsti dalle normali Vostre procedure e come attestato dai documenti in allegato.
Tale partenza è avvenuta senza alcun annuncio inerente nè l'apertura del gate, nè alcun richiamo per i passeggeri mancanti, che nel frattempo erano impegnati nelle operazioni di superamento della frontiera (controllo dei passaporti) a pochi metri di distanza dal punto di imbarco previsto.
La mancanza di informazioni da parte dell'addetta al check-in in merito alle operazioni da svolgersi per l'espatrio e l'assenza di annunci riguardo l'apertura del gate o di richiami in prossimità della sua chiusura, ci hanno quindi costretti all'acquisto di un'ulteriore coppia di biglietti (per un importo pari a XXX € riguardante il costo del volo più ulteriori XXX€ di commissione) e ad una sosta forzata di 24 ore presso l'aeroporto di XXX!

The aircraft left without annoucing any opening of the gate nor calling the missing passengers, who were carrying out the necessary procedure to cross the border (passport control), just a few meters far from the gate.
The lack of information regarding the procedure to cross the border by the check-in operator and the lack of any announcements regarding the gate opening or the calling for the missing passengers before the gate closing have compelled us to buy an extra pair of tickets (for an amount of €XXX relative to the flight and further € XXX as commission of the XXX airport, which provided the service) and to a 24 hour forced stay in the airport of XXX!

Abstract
L'interesse specifico per le forme abitative e per le condizioni di povertà ed esclusione in cui versano i rom rumeni in Romania e che riproducono emigrando in Italia, è una tematica che merita un approfondimento. L'ipotesi principale che sorregge il disegno della ricerca è che le difficoltà provate da queste persone nell'accesso al mondo lavorativo non siano riconducibili immediatamente ad una cultura romanì, ma siano strettamente dipendenti anche dalle condizioni materiali e sociali del loro abitare.
Tale ricerca deve essere svolta per un'ampia parte sul campo, partendo dalla realizzazione di un'osservazione partecipante di gruppi di rom romeni che vivono a Milano in condizioni abitative estremamente irregolari e precarie. L'osservazione tocca anche un nodo cruciale per le politiche sociali e urbane italiane: l'omogeneizzato trattamento abitativo e sociale delle eterogenee popolazioni rom presenti in Italia. I rom romeni sono gli ultimi rom in ordine di tempo ad essere giunti sul territorio nazionale ma sono anche coloro che presentano delle caratteristiche abitative e culturali che li portano ad essere economicamente molto indigenti e a riprodurre forme abitative abusive, segregate e auto-segreganti. Risulta quindi interessante approfondire quanto lo spazio fisico dell'abitare in baraccopoli influisca sull'incapacità o sulla non-volontà di ricerca e mantenimento di un lavoro per uomini e per donne e quanto determini l'esistenza di regimi di azione famigliari discontinui, comparando tali situazioni a quelle di persone rom romene che hanno situazioni abitative e lavorative regolari in Romania e in altri paesi europei.
Translation - English EMPIRICAL STUDY AND ANALYSIS OF THE CONSEQUENCES ON WORK AND FAMILY ACTION ARISING FROM DISCONTINUOUS HOUSING FORMS OF ROMANIAN ROMA GROUPS: COMPARISON BETWEEN THEIR SITUATION IN THEIR COUNTRY AND THE ONE ONCE MIGRATED TO ITALY.
Abstract
The housing forms, poverty and exclusion of Romanian Roma in Romania, aspects they tend to reproduce once migrated to Italy, are an issue that deserves attention. The main hypotheses at the basis of my research project is that the difficulties faced by these people when entering the job market are not exclusively and directly caused by the “romanì” background but are also closely dependent on the material and social conditions of their housing forms.
Such research must be carried out for a large part on the field, starting from a participating observation of groups of Romanian Roma who live in Milan in extremely irregular and unstable housing conditions. Such observation involves a very important aspect in the Italian social and urban policies: the homogenized housing and social dealing with heterogeneous populations of Roma in Italy. Romanian Roma are the last Roma that have moved to Italy. These people have housing and cultural aspects that cause their poverty, segregating and self-segregating housing forms.
Therefore it is interesting to investigate how the physical space of their slums influences the inability or uninterest of both men and women in finding and keeping a job. Their living conditions also determine the existence of discontinuous family structures, if one compares their situation to the one of Roma that live in Romania and in other European countries that have a permanent address and a regular job.

The 60-hour training course took place in Cork, Ireland. The trainers presented the communicative teaching method “Staging”, based on specific steps in which the learner, with his creativity and multiple intelligences is at the centre of the action. The activities shown were both cooperative and competitive, focused on the use of drama techniques, poetry, songs and IT devices.
Thanks to the course I have been able to develop tailored communicative activities to present grammar and cultural contents.
