Source text - English I'll borrow about ten minutes of your time to set up a crime together. I promise, that after we finish, no one will be dead - I hope so - and you will get into my shoes for a while. I am not sure whether this is a legitimate language transfer since I use my hands to write. One would expect from a professional writer to find a better figure of speech. Anyway, you will have an overall view of how an author of crime fantasy creates a scene of a crime and how a two-way communication is achieved with the audience.
Translation - Greek Θα δανειστώ περίπου δέκα λεπτά από το χρόνο σας για να στήσουμε μαζί ένα έγκλημα. Υπόσχομαι, ότι αφού τελειώσουμε, κανένας δεν θα έχει πεθάνει - το ελπίζω - και "θα μπείτε για λίγο στα παπούτσια μου". Δεν είμαι σίγουρος ότι αυτό είναι ένα έγκυρο γλωσσικό ισοδύναμο εφόσον χρησιμοποιώ τα χέρια μου για να γράψω. Source text - English 1. Myth- COVID-19 affects only older people.
Reality- People of all ages can be infected. People with pre-existing medical conditions (asthma, diabetes, heart disease) are more vulnerable.
2. Myth- COVID-19 doesn’t spread in hot, humid climates.
Myth- Cold Weather can kill COVID-19.
Reality- COVID-19 can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including hot & humid weather.
3. Myth- Holding your breath for more than 10 seconds means you do not have COVID-19.
Reality- How long you can hold your breath has nothing to do with COVID-19. If you suspect you have COVID-19, immediately consult with designated health professionals.
4. Myth- Hot bath prevents COVID-19.
Reality- Viruses do not get killed by hot shower/bath temperature, typically a max of 48oC. They get killed by at least 70oC, while our normal body temperature is around 36.5o-37oC.
5. Myth- COVID-19 means death.
Reality- Most people do recover (around 80%).
6. Myth- COVID-19 transmits through mosquito bites
Reality- Current evidence don’t suggest that COVID-19 is transmitted by mosquitoes.
It spreads primarily through droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes or through droplets of saliva or nose discharge.
7. Myth- Spraying Alcohol or Chlorine all over the body kills COVID-19
Reality – It does not kill viruses that have already entered the body. Spraying such substances can harm mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, mouth)
8. Myth- I don’t have COVID-19 as thermal scanners did not detect fever in me.
Reality- Thermal scanners can’t detect people infected but not yet sick with fever. It takes 2-10 days before infected people become sick and develop a fever.
9. Myth- Antibiotics prevent and treat COVID-19.
Reality- COVID-19 is a virus and Antibiotics work against bacteria but not viruses. However, Antibiotics can be used under doctor supervision to treat COVID-19 patients with secondary imposed bacterial infections.
10. Myth- Garlics help prevent COVID-19
Myth - Vaccines against pneumonia prevent COVID-19
Myth- Ultraviolet disinfection lamp kill COVID-19
Myth- Gargling bleach kill COVID-19
Translation - Greek 1. Μύθος- ο COVID-19 επηρεάζει μόνο τους ηλικιωμένους.
Πραγματικότητα- Άνθρωποι όλων των ηλικιών μπορούν να μολυνθούν. Άνθρωποι με προϋπάρχουσες ιατρικές παθήσεις (άσθμα, διαβήτη, καρδιακή νόσο) είναι πιο ευάλωτοι.
2. Μύθος- Ο COVID-19 δεν εξαπλώνεται σε ζεστά, υγρά κλίματα.
Μύθος- Ο ψυχρός καιρός μπορεί να σκοτώσει τον καιρός
Πραγματικότητα- Ο COVID-19 μπορεί να μεταδοθεί σε ΌΛΕΣ ΤΙΣ ΣΥΝΘΉΚΕΣ, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του θερμού και υγρού κλίματος.
3. Μύθος- Το να κρατάς την αναπνοή σου για περισσότερα από 10 δευτερόλεπτα σημαίνει ότι δεν έχεις προσβληθεί από COVID-19.

Πραγματικότητα- Οι ιοί δε σκοτώνονται με το ζεστό ντουζ/μπάνιο, κατά κανόνα με μέγιστο όριο τους 48oC. Σκοτώνονται σε θερμοκρασία τουλάχιστον 70oC, ενώ η κανονική μας θερμοκρασία σώματος
5. Μύθος- Ο COVID-19 σημαίνει θάνατος.
Πραγματικότητα- Οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι ανακάμπτουν (περίπου 80%).
6. Μύθος- Ο COVID-19 μεταδίδεται από τσιμπήματα κουνουπιών.
Πραγματικότητα- Τα τρέχοντα στοιχεία δεν υποδεικνύουν ότι ο COVID-19 μεταδίδεται από τα κουνούπια.
Εξαπλώνεται κυρίως από τα σταγονίδια ενός μολυσμένου ατόμου που βήχει ή φτερνίζεται ή από σταγονίδια σάλιου και ρινικών εκκρίσεων.
7. Μύθος- Το ψέκασμα με αλκοόλ ή χλωρίνη σε όλο το σώμα σκοτώνει τον COVID-19
Πραγματικότητα – Δε σκοτώνει ιούς που έχουν ήδη εισέλθει στο σώμα. Το ψέκασμα με τέτοιες ουσίες μπορεί να βλάψει τους βλεννογόνους μεμβράνες (δηλ. τα μάτια, το στόμα)
8. Μύθος- Δεν έχω COVID-19 καθώς οι συσκευές θερμομέτρησης δεν ανίχνευσαν πυρετό σε μένα.
Πραγματικότητα- Οι συσκευές θερμομέτρησης δεν μπορούν να ανιχνεύσουν ανθρώπους μολυσμένους Χρειάζονται 2- 10 ημέρες μέχρι να αρρωστήσουν τα μολυσμένα άτομα και να αναπτύξουν πυρετό.
9. Μύθος- Τα αντιβιοτικά προλαμβάνουν και θεραπεύουν τον COVID-19.
Πραγματικότητα- Ο COVID-19 είναι ένας ιός και τα αντιβιοτικά δρουν κατά των βακτηρίων αλλά όχι των ιών. Ωστόσο, τα αντιβιοτικά μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν υπό την επίβλεψη του γιατρού για τη θεραπεία του COVID-19 σε ασθενείς με δευτερογενώς εκδηλωμένη βακτηριακή λοίμωξη.

Considering my past working experience as a content creator and a translator-localizer, I am endowed with the right qualifications to work with and use my insight into selecting the right words and phrases that produce a flawless linguistic combination causing an eye-catching effect on the reader.
Working as a translator/proofreader for the translating company Lilt for a few months has given me confidence to further pursue my dream of becoming a language and content expert.
Before that, I had worked as a volunteer translator for the TEDx event University of Macedonia (2018) translating speeches from English to Greek or vice versa and effectively cooperating in a translation team.
