■창간 26주년기념 한국 문화예술인 초청 공연
1995년 1월17일 일본 고베시를 뒤흔든 대지진으로 한인동포들이 큰 피해를 입은 소식이 전해지자 남가주 한인사회에 고베 동포돕기 캠페인이 펼쳐진다. 한국일보도 FM서울, KTAN-TV와 함께 한인단체들과 공동으로 ‘재일 지진피해동포 돕기 캠페인’에 앞장서 1월 19일자에 성금접수 사고를 게재했다. 한국일보가 접수한 성금 2만 4,329달러는 2월 7일 한인회·한미구호기금재단·한미구호봉사기구의 대표들에게 전달됐다.
4월 28일 평양에서 개막된 ‘평화를 위한 평양 국제 체육 및 문화축전’ 취재를 위해 사회부 안상호 차장을 북한에 급파했다. 9일간의 북한취재를 마치고 돌아온 안 특파원은 5월 5일자부터 ‘평양·평양사람들’ 시리즈를 통해 북한의 이모저모를 자세히 보도했다.
6월 9일 창간 26주년을 맞아 48면의 특집을 발행했다. 두 개의 여론조사를 통해 한인 비즈니스의 문제점 및 전망과 한인 젊은이들의 결혼관 및 직업관을 조명했다.
창간 26주년 기념사업으로 한국의 문화예술인 초청공연이 여름부터 가을까지 이어졌다. 7월 22일 슈라인 오디토리엄에서는 6,000여명의 관객이 몰린 가운데 최민수, 이승연, 신효범, 김종서 등 한국 인기 연예인이 대거 출연한 초청쇼가 열렸다.
8월 5일 남가주 한미교류협회와 공동으로 주최한 전통음악제에는 워싱턴DC 한국전 참전용사 기념비공원 개장 축하를 위해 미국을 방문 중이던 국악인 100여명이 출연했다. 9월 9일 그랜드 올림픽 오디토리엄 무대에 올린 극단 ‘미추’의 ‘95 마당놀이-춘향전’도 6,000여 관객이 운집했다.
8월5일부터 주간지 ‘한국일보 LA 위클리 매거진’을 토요일에 배달되는 ‘일요신문’ 속의 섹션으로 합쇄 간행했다.

■Inviting Korean Cultural Artists to Celebrate 26th Anniversary of Publication
When news of the earthquake in Kobe, Japan was heard in Korea on January 17, 1995, a campaign for helping Korean victims in Kobe held in Korean community in Southern Califronia. the Korea Times, along with FM Seoul and KTAN-TV, also carried out a story of the donation campaign on January 19th edition. The $24,329 donation received by the Korea Times was sent to the representatives of the Korean Association of Korean Residents, the Korea-U.S. Relief Fund Foundation and the Korea-U.S. Relief Service Organization on February 7th.
Deputy Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs Sang Ho Ahn was dispatched in North Korea to cover the Pyongyang International Sports and Cultural Festival, which were held in Pyongyang on April 28. Mr. Ahn, after 9 days of his cover, had reported a series of "Pyeongyang and its People" in detail since May 5th.
On June 9th, a special edition of 48 page was published to commemorate its 26th anniversary. With the two opinion polls, it highlighted the problems and prospects of the Korean businesses as well as the marriage and career views of the Korean youth. As its 26th anniversary business, an invitational performances of Korean Cultural Artists continued from summer to autumn. On July 22, at Shrine Auditorium, a numerous Korean celebrities including Min Soo Choi, Seung Yeon Lee, Hyo Bum Shin and Jong Seo Kim were invited for perform while 6,000 had gathered as its audiences.
At a traditional music festival, hosted by the Southern California Korea-U.S. Exchange Association on August 5, over 100 Korean musicians, who were celebrating the opening of the monument park for Korean War veterans in Washington D.C., had attended. The "95 Madang Nori-Chunhyangjeon" by the troupe Michu, which was held at the Grand Olympics Auditorium on September 9, also attracted more than 6,000 audiences.
The Korea Times L.A. Weekly Magazine, which was delivered every Saturday, has been published on a section within ‘Sunday Newspaper’ since August 5th.
