Hello!
My name is Seungjune and I'm from South Korea.
I lived a quarter of my life abroad, which makes me an internationally minded individual.
Plus, I understand both international and Korean culture, which enables me to make appropriate cultural translation and localize the contents. I've done some 'unofficial translating' back when I was in highschool: I translated class materials (that are in English) for Korean students who couldn't speak English. I also have experience translating YouTube closed captions and TED captions. Since I was well accepted by my teachers and most importantly, my "clients" (peers and YouTube community), I wanted to pursue translating if there is an opportunity. Luckily, I found a way to translate without quitting my studies in university, so I feel privileged to be here.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
FAQ:
Q: Why should I hire you to translate my content?
A: I treat "translation" differently compared to others. People tend to think translation as "change Korean into English", but it is not, at least for me. For me, translation is changing the language of the documents and allowing the meaning of the content to be preserved as much as possible. In English, you can greet someone by saying "Hello". In Korean, hello can be translated as "안녕", "안녕하세요", "헬로", and so on. By context, you have to alter such terms, and I think I can do exactly that since I lived abroad for a quarter of my life. I think that is good enough to understand international and Korean culture, which enables me to use the correct terms at the right place.
Q: Can you translate (localize, or both) games?
A: Yes! I am an 'experienced' gamer who played games in Korean AND in English. You might ask: What genres of games have you played? My answer is: Basically all of them! I have experience playing Sid's Civilization series, Tropico series, Need for speed, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Cities: Skyline, Plague Inc., X-planes 10, OOTP series, DOTA 2, League of Legends, Door kickers, This war of mine, sheltered, and bunch of other mobile games! I can translate and localize games no matter of the genre.
Q: So, you only translate/localize games, right?
A: No! The reason why I put "can you translate games" section above was because I saw much more opportunity for game translation. I can translate mostly everything in terms of field, unless it is 200-page long contract. (I'm not a lawyer, sorry, but I can translate legal documents for you if it is less than 5 pages.)
