Bio

I am a polyglot and I majored in Classics (ancient languages) at The University of Melbourne, Australia. When I was 16 I attended high school in Belgium for one year. I stayed with a local family and became fluent in French. Since then, I studied Advanced French at The University of Melbourne as part of my Bachelor of Arts degree. I also took units in Advanced Spanish and Italian.

In addition to my BA, I also completed a Diploma of Arts (Classics), which included studying Ancient Greek, Latin, Biblical Hebrew and Sanskrit. I have traveled to South America four times and spent extensive time in Brazil and Colombia. As a result I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

I lived in Los Angeles, CA for three years, so I am familiar with US English. I have also traveled to the U.K. on numerous occasions to stay with family, so I am equally capable of formatting your documents for U.K. readers. I have been to Italy several times, and although I cannot speak Italian fluently, I can understand it perfectly (as it is obviously very similar to Latin and the other romance languages I do speak fluently).

I have extensive experience translating a wide-range of documents in the above languages. I have translated documents in medieval Latin and Italian into English for an American historian. I have a part time job translating articles from Spanish to US English (usually around 10,000 words per week). I worked for another European company translating French and Italian official court documents, visa applications, diplomas and CVs into English. My most exciting job was working as an interpreter for Real Madrid when they came to visit Melbourne in 2015. I attended events and media conferences with the players and would translate interview questions into either Spanish, French or Portuguese (depending on the native language of the player being interviewed).

Thanks to my background in Latin, I have a profound understanding of the grammar of romance languages. This enables me to easily comprehend the source material, and ultimately present you with a perfect translation in your choice of US, UK or any other type of English. I only translate into English, as I believe it always better to hire a translator who is translating into their native language.
