Bio

Over the past eight years, I have served as the head of a technical writing & translation team and dealt with numerous Korean and English documentation projects. Herein, I would like to briefly introduce my strengths as a translator:

Deep understanding of particular fields—IT, machinery & automotive. For these two fields, I have been active not merely as a translator, but also as a technical writer who creates various manuals in these fields. This means I have deep understanding of them, including different programming languages I command and other various computing concepts such as databases and machine learning (for IT) and mechanics, electrics, hydraulics, etc. (for machinery and automotive). That’s one of the determining factors that I can be the best performer in these fields.

Perfect English reading skills. Good source text reading is essential for a quality translation. This is unquestionable but often overlooked because people can hardly imagine that a majority of professional translators lack the English proficiency for good reading. This leads many translators to neglect their insufficient but unchallenged English reading skills; instead, they put more efforts into making target texts “look good.” I strongly oppose this superficial approach and have steadily trained myself to read better than native English speakers.

Highly technical Korean writing. I am native in Korean, but as a linguistic expert, I have never been complacent with such nativity. I have therefore trained myself to be far more than native, and I am confident that my Korean writing skills exceed those of any other Korean linguist.

Rich experience with documentation in terms of techniques, types, rules and standards, trends, related technologies, etc. I had to head my team from very early in my career. To survive in the fiercely competitive market, I had to continue developing my expertise in documentation. As my business was open to all types of clients who demanded diverse products, my research covered an unbelievably wide range of subject matters and skills. This served as a hidden helper that improved my translation quality.

If the strengths described above match your job qualifications, I hope we will enjoy a rewarding partnership. Thank you for your time and consideration.
