Dear Parents and Care Givers,
COVID-19- Student Free and Work From Home
I would like to begin by thanking you, the parents, for your rapid, and loving response to my request to keep your children at home. I made this request out of genuine concern for your children, and for our teachers and support staff and it is working.
Last day for students
Following on from this request, and in direct response to the Level 2 restrictions announced recently, I am further preparing our school for remote learning through Microsoft Teams. In order to do this, I am moving forward the last day for all students to Tuesday 31 March 2020. The remaining 3 days of the school term will be student-free days where staff will work to prepare curriculum so that our children can continue to have access to high quality learning, whether it be at school, or remotely.
Supporting front-line workers
To support our community, and in recognition of the vital work that so many of you do, on these student free days we will offer supervision of students in the Primary School only, for parents whose front-line work (in hospitals, pharmacies, emergency services and the like) means they need supervision. You must phone the office and pre-book this supervision, and ensure children have their “work from home” packages to work from.
Working from Home
Whilst we are living in an uncertain time, there is something that I am entirely certain on; there is nothing more important than the safety and wellbeing of your child. Please do not let school work, or working from home be a source of stress and anxiety. In my time spent in classrooms over the past week I have been telling students that the best things that they can be doing from home are to
• Read a book (to their sibling or pet);
• Help in the kitchen (cooking is one of the best Math lessons);
• Plant a garden and tend to it (get your children outside and in nature).
At this troubled time I am inspired by the resilience and tenacity I am seeing every day; from our dedicated educators, from our beautiful children and from you, the parents who
trust us with your most precious of gifts.

প্রথমেই আমি আপনাদের, পিতামাতাদের, ধন্যবাদ জানাতে চাই আপনার সন্তানদের বাড়িতে রাখার আমার অনুরোধকে সাদরে গ্রহণ করে তড়িৎ সাড়া দেয়ার জন্য। আপনার সন্তান, এবং আমাদের শিক্ষক ও সহায়ক কর্মীদের কথা আন্তরিকভাবে চিন্তা করেই আমি এই অনুরোধ জানিয়েছিলাম এবং এতে কাজ হচ্ছে।
শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য শেষ দিন
এই অনুরোধ জানানোর পর থেকে, এবং সম্প্রতি ঘোষিত লেভেল ২ নিষেধাজ্ঞা মেনে চলার উদ্দেশ্যে, আমি আমাদের স্কুলকে মাইক্রোসফট টিমস এর মাধ্যমে রিমোট লার্নিং এর জন্য আরো উপযোগী করে তোলার প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছি। এজন্য আমি শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য শেষ দিনটি আরো সামনে নিয়ে মঙ্গলবার ৩১ মার্চ ২০২০ নির্ধারণ করেছি। স্কুল টার্মের বাকি ৩ দিন শিক্ষার্থী-মুক্ত দিন হবে। এই দিনগুলোতে আমাদের কর্মীরা এমন পাঠ্যক্রম তৈরিতে কাজ করবেন যাতে আমাদের সন্তানরা স্কুলে এসে, বা রিমোট অবস্থান থেকে, উভয়ভাবেই উচ্চ মানের শিক্ষা লাভ করা অব্যাহত রাখতে পারে।
সামনের সারির কর্মীদের সহায়তা করা
আমাদের কমিউনিটিকে সহায়তা করার উদ্দেশ্যে এবং আপনাদের মূল্যবান অবদানের স্বীকৃতি স্বরুপ, এই শিক্ষার্থী মুক্ত দিনগুলোতে আমরা কেবল প্রাইমারি স্কুলের শিক্ষার্থীদের তদারকি করার দায়িত্ব নিবো, যাদের পিতামাতা সামনের সারির কর্মীর ভূমিকা রাখায় (হাসপাতাল, ফার্মেসি, জরুরী পরিষেবা, ইত্যাদিতে) তাদের তদারকি করা প্রয়োজন হবে। আপনাকে অবশ্যই অফিসে ফোন করে এই তদারকির বিষয়টি প্রি-বুক করতে হবে এবং নিশ্চিত করতে হবে যে আপনার সন্তানদের কাছে কাজ করার জন্য নিজেদের “বাড়ি থেকে কাজ করার” প্যাকেজ রয়েছে।
বাড়ি থেকে কাজ করা
যদিও আমরা এক অনিশ্চিত সময়ে বাস করছি, কিছু বিষয়ে আমি পুরোপুরি নিশ্চিত; আপনার সন্তানের নিরাপত্তা ও সুস্থতার চেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আর কিছু নেই। অনুগ্রহ করে স্কুলের কাজ, বা বাড়ি থেকে কাজ করা নিয়ে চিন্তিত ও উদ্বিগ্ন হবেন না। গত সপ্তাহব্যাপী আমি শ্রেণিকক্ষে শিক্ষার্থীদের জানিয়ে আসছি যে তারা বাড়িতে থেকে যে কাজগুলো করলে সবচেয়ে ভালো হবে তা হলো
• বই পড়া (ভাইবোন বা পোষা প্রাণিকে পড়ে শোনানো);
• রান্নাঘরের কাজে সাহায্য করা (রান্না করা হলো অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ গণিত পাঠ);
• বাগান করা এবং এর পরিচর্যা করা (আপনার সন্তানদের বাইরে প্রকৃতির কাছে নিয়ে যান)।
আমাদের নিবেদিত শিক্ষকবৃন্দ, আমাদের চমৎকার শিশুরা এবং আমাদের বিশ্বাস করে নিজের সবচেয়ে মূল্যবান উপহারটি দিয়ে দেয়া অভিভাবকদের কাছ থেকে এই প্রতিকূল সময়ে আমি প্রতিদিন যে প্রাণোচ্ছলতা ও দৃঢ়তা দেখতে পাচ্ছি তাতে আমি অনুপ্রাণিত হচ্ছি;
