I suppose that the first issue is to determine how broadly we take the term “Greek Literature”
In a narrow sense of poetry and drama, one only has to consider the number of films, TV presentations, and books devoted to the Trojan War to get some idea of Homer’s enduring popularity. Its anti-war sentiments certainly strike a chord today. The ‘Odyssey’ continues to attract new translations but commercial publishers only publish where they believe that they have a market. Although the plays of Sophocles and the other Tragedians are less often performed today, they are still well-read and we can gain a good deal of insight into human nature by reading them and how little human nature has changed over two millennia…
If we broaden the term Literature to embrace History and Philosophy, then Thucydides - and his real politic in particular - is still used in education by our military establishments. It is directly relevant that Herodotus describes the war of the West v the East (Greece v Persia) 2,500 years before our contemporary conflict.
As far as Philosophy goes, one only has to point to Plato to show that Greek Philosophy is still of relevance today.

Υποθέτω ότι το πρώτο ζήτημα είναι να καθορίσουμε πόσο ευρέως λαμβάνουμε τον όρο "Ελληνική Λογοτεχνία"
Με τη στενή έννοια της ποίησης και του δράματος, πρέπει κανείς μόνο να εξετάσει τον αριθμό των ταινιών, τηλεοπτικών παρουσιάσεων και βιβλίων αφιερωμένων στον Τρωικό πόλεμο για να πάρει κάποια ιδέα για τη διαρκή δημοτικότητα του Ομήρου. Τα αντιπολεμικά συναισθήματά του σίγουρα θυμίζουν κάτι σήμερα. Η "Οδύσσεια" συνεχίζει να προσελκύει νέες μεταφράσεις αλλά οι εμπορικοί εκδότες δημοσιεύουν μόνο όταν πιστεύουν ότι έχουν
απήχηση αγορά. Παρόλο που τα έργα του Σοφοκλή και των άλλων Τραγωδών εκτελούνται σήμερα λιγότερο συχνά, εξακολουθούν να διαβάζονται συχνά και μπορούμε να αποκτήσουμε μια πολύ καλή εικόνα της ανθρώπινης φύσης και το κατά πόσο η μικρή ανθρώπινη φύση έχει αλλάξει τις δύο τελευταίες χιλιετίες …
Εάν διευρύνουμε τον όρο Λογοτεχνία για να συμπεριλάβουμε την Ιστορία και τη Φιλοσοφία, τότε ο Θουκυδίδης - και ειδικότερα οι πολιτική του πρακτική - εξακολουθεί να χρησιμοποιείται στην εκπαίδευση από τις στρατιωτικές μας σχολές. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι ο Ηρόδοτος περιγράφει τον πόλεμο της Δύσης εναντίον της Ανατολής (Ελλάδα εναντίον Περσίας) 2.500 χρόνια πριν από τη σύγχρονη σύγκρουσή μας.
Όσον αφορά τη Φιλοσοφία, πρέπει κανείς να επισημάνει τον Πλάτωνα για να δείξει ότι η ελληνική φιλοσοφία εξακολουθεί να έχει σημασία και σήμερα.
