Source text - English The Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila is one of the 20 Italian public academies belonging to the Higher Artistic Education of the Ministry of University and Research.
Our Institute combines theoretical studies and artistic practice in its training courses, in fact the venue designed by the famous architect Paolo Portoghesi, has several workshop spaces for the visual arts and for restoration, a theater with a regulatory stage, a library and many classrooms for theoretical lessons.
The goal is to train professionals who know how to put into practice, who know how to manage the creative process from concept to realization, who have gained knowledge, technical skills and competences in the different sectors of the arts, communication and entertainment.
We are able to do all this thanks to a continuous laboratory practice, an articulated path of theoretical studies and thanks to continuous relationships with the market and with international realities.
In fact, our Academy participates in Erasmus activities every year and has established relationships with many European countries, from Spain to France, to Romania. The goal is that our students can gain as wide-ranging experiences as possible, comparing themselves with the international market.

Currently the training offer is divided into 7 courses, 6 of which are organized in three-year and two-year periods and 1, the one in restoration, with a single five-year cycle.
The addresses in three-year + two-year periods are in:
Decoration, Graphics, Graphics for illustration and comics, Photography, Painting, Scenography, Sculpture
The five-year addresses under restoration are in:
Restoration of stone materials and derivatives and decorated surfaces of architecture.
Restoration of artifacts on wooden and textile supports, as well as artifacts carved in wood and manufactured and assembled synthetic or painted artifacts.
The various addresses enjoy a series of transversal activities, in fact the Academy has a 3D laboratory where students can touch both the design and three-dimensional printing thanks to special printers and a costume and fashion laboratory where they can learn to build the character for photographic campaigns and for the show.
The addresses in Painting, Sculpture and Decoration are, in their specific peculiarities, addresses that investigate the various forms of visual art, from traditional plastic and pictorial techniques, up to the new languages of contemporary art.
The meetings with artists and critics, who are regularly organized, are a cultural and educational heritage for all the students of our Academy.
The course in Graphics deals with the discipline from its historical and traditional roots of art graphics up to the recent experimental developments.
The art graphics laboratory is a practical moment where you can compare yourself with the techniques of drawing and printing in its various specificities.
The training course also reconciles all graphic disciplines related to communication, from publishing to web design.
The course in Graphics for illustration and comics face up the issues of illustrated publishing by balancing both hand and digital techniques, in order to offer the widest possible range of tools.
The scenography course deals with training professionals capable of working both for live entertainment and for television and film productions. The possibility of being able to experience the theater space is a great opportunity for students who have the opportunity to pass from paper to realization in a space that enjoys both the measures and the technologies typical of professional production.
From 3D design to ancient Italian backdrop decoration techniques, the scenography address deals with all the practices of the performance along its way, being able to touch them live.
The photographer today is a profession that is increasingly outlined as linked to communication. The path, improved by continuous activity on the set, thanks to a classroom specifically dedicated to this, trains students in both analogical and digital techniques.
The character building, the management of the model on the set, the dramaturgy of light are fundamental tools for the future profession, in a world that has increasingly a strong centrality in its image.

The Academy of L’Aquila is one of the 10 institutions of Higher Artistic Education authorized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage for the training of art restorers.
The peculiarities of the address and the rules dictated by the ministry for its activation provide for a single 5-year course and access to a programmed number.
In these addresses, on-site experiences are mandatory and fundamental for the training of a professional who, at the end of the course, is able to intervene on the works of art; in fact, after the discussion of the final thesis, is expected the qualifying examination with the ministerial commission to join the national register of Italian restorers.
