■ The development of machine translation technology
The history of machine translation, using computer to translate from one language to another, goes hand in hand with the history of computer. The research on machine translation was first led by America where computer operation system and internet were already developed after world war II. Then, in the 1950s, it was accelerated by a researcher, Warren Weaver from the national science foundation (NSF)who raised a fund to support the study of machine translation.
The method first introduced was rule-based machine translation (RBMT). RBMT translates languages based on grammatical rules in the computer system set by developers. The translation accuracy is high because the algorithm is based on the grammar. However, there is a limit that creating a translation system that covers multiple languages is costly and time consuming because linguists should take a lead in the development process.

History
Sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann founded the label in 1991, while the first store was opened in 1992. It all started in Sydney, when Nicky Zimmermann, who attended the design school in East Sydney, began designing garments from her parent’s garage and selling them at Paddington markets where she could see first-hand how women responded to her clothing. Her sister Simone joined her later in 1991.
Zimmermann presents their ready-to-wear collections each year in both Australia and the USA at New York Fashion Week. In the following years, the Zimmermann label extended to Swim Separates, Kids, and Accessories. After the expansion, Zimmermann started making ready-to-wear collections available outside of Australia.
In 2008 Zimmermann also launched its online boutique at zimmermannwear.com.

2008년, 짐머만은 온라인 쇼핑몰(zimmermannwear.com)을 열었다.
