Bio

I have a BA
in Linguistic Mediation and an MA in International Trade. My bachelor’s
dissertation was a translation of the book Corso Di Sopravvivenza per Consumisti
in Crisi
(Survival Course for Consumerists in Crisis) by Lia Celi. The
book, riddled with plays on words, required a work not only of translation but
also of localisation.

Working as a Press & Media intern at the Consulate General of Italy in
Chongqing gave me the opportunity to flex my muscles in terms of translation of
official documents. I was in charge of translating
, editing and
proofreading the weekly newsletter as well as various articles and press releases.
Translation and proofreading were also tasks that I performed as a Board Member
of the magazine Spicy West, an experience that taught me to be flexible
and to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment. Furthermore, it improved
my communication skills, as I was also responsible for the Events column.

During my internship in the International Sales
& Marketing department at Ducar, I was tasked with technical translations,
among other things. This required not only language skills but also a deep
understanding of the subject matter and a
solid grasp of the correct
terminology in both the source language and the target language. I learned how
to build glossaries and how to systematically work at a project, be it a user
manual for the final consumer or an assembling guide that would help our
technicians improve our products.
