For dynamic driving, the maximum damping force is applied, and the C-Class is effectively stabilised. The optionally available ADVANCED AGILTY package goes even one step further.
This system which will be available as from autumn particularly addresses ambitious drivers, who can choose between a comfortable and fleet-footed or an agile and sporty tuning at the touch of a button. Here the adjustment is done infinitely variable by electrically adjusted damping valves at the struts and shock absorbers. The continuous adjustment to the respective driving situation is done by a control unit which permanently evaluates the information of seven sensors. The sporty characteristics are supported by reinforced torsion bars, the 15 millimeter lower vehicle level and the even more direct steering. Moreover, in the ADVANCED AGILTY package the accelerator characteristics and switching points of the automatic gearbox adapt to the driving style.

Source text - English THE AUTOMOTIVE WORLD HAS LONG enjoyed its acronyms. In the past, a car simply had brakes, steering and suspension, but in this electronic age they also have ABS, EBD, ECB, TRC, VSC and EPS, to name but a few. As you’d expect, a Lexus has no shortage of these systems, and the acronym everyone is talking about right now is VDIM – Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management.
VDIM might sound like a mouthful, but it’s a highly intelligent system that harmonises the operation of all the other electronic safety systems. A vast array of sensors throughout the car relay details about its performance to VDIM’s electronic brain. This brain will then activate different safety systems to optimise the car’s stability. It’s probably best to think of it as a sports captain, studying the game and then dispensing orders to the rest of the team.
The advantages of such an integrated system are huge. Instead of the ‘players’ operating independently of each other, VDIM makes them work together. Common sense dictates that changes to the steering input will have an effect on the suspension and vice versa, so the electronic systems governing their operation will work more efficiently if they can share information or ‘talk’. The net result is a vehicle with enhanced levels of stability and driving comfort.
