Source text - English Nifedipine GITS is an antihypertensive (blood pressure lowering) drug which belongs to the group of drugs called calcium channel blockers (CCB). Nifedipine relaxes (widens) your blood vessels (veins and arteries), which results in a decrease of blood pressure and at the same time makes it easier for the heart to pump and reduces its workload. Nifedipine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain), respectively. Nifedipine GITS has been approved by your Regulatory/Health Authority for use in this condition and is sold under the brand name [XXX].
