Source text - English China is at the forefront of the methanol-fuel economy, with the government actively encouraging the use of DME and methanol-blended gasoline for energy applications in order to reduce the dependence on crude oil imports. Government authorities in eleven provinces put in place methanol blending standards in 2011 supplementing the prevailing national standards- M85 and MIOO-adopted in 2009. Methanol imports to China, the global growth engine, increased even as domestic manufacturing capacity remains underutilized. The application of methanol for Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) conversionincreased significantly m 2011, with China at the heirn in commercializing the technology for manufacturing ethylene, propylene and other olefins. In the light of soaring energy costs, the Chinese MTO process is competing at par with conventional olefin production processes that employ naphtha as feed stock. Three of the four MTO plants set up in the country since 2010 are fully integrated, initially meeting their entire feedstock requirement from own resources. However, all four plants, together accounting for over 5.2 million tons per year of methanol, are at present dependent on traders for methanol supplies. With several new non integrated MTO plant installations planned in the near term, the resulting demand for methanol is expected to make a major dent the global supply chain. Methanol consumption in China is estimated at 30.93 million metric tons for 2012 and is projected to reach 50 million metric tons by 2018, registering a CAGR of 9.4% over the analysis period 2010-2018.

В 2011 году органы власти в одиннадцати провинциях приняли стандарты метаноловых смесей, в дополнение к принятым в 2009 году национальным стандартам M85 и MIOO. Импорт метанола в Китай вырос даже несмотря на то, что внутренние производственные мощности не используются в полном объеме. Применение метанола в процессе МТО существенно выросло в 2011 году, когда Китай стал у штурвала коммерциализации этой технологии производства этилена, пропилена и других олефинов. В свете растущих затрат на электроэнергию китайский процесс МТО составляет серьезную конкуренцию традиционным технологиям производства олефинов, использующих нафту в качестве сырья. Три из четырех заводов Китая, работающих по технологии МТО с 2010 года, полностью интегрированы и первоначально самостоятельно удовлетворяли собственную потребность в сырье. Однако в настоящее время все четыре завода суммарно потребляют более 5,2 миллиона тонн метанола в год. В связи с этим они вынуждены приобретать метанол у трейдеров.
