I am specialist translator, as opposed to a recycled engineer / lawyer / tree surgeon, so I rely on my ability to research subjects to make sure that the translations I produce are right. I regard my own comprehension of the source text as key.
Since 2001, when I started working as a translator, I have tackled a wide range of different subjects, from museum catalogues to patents for gearboxes, and I have built up a good working knowledge through translating contracts, patents, press releases, technical specifications, financial statements and judicial documents, to name a few.
These translations have come from lots of different business sectors, notably telecoms and transport.
I work from home and am really flexible, regularly working early mornings, late nights and weekends. |
