The difference in productivity between the assets is mainly due to the genetic material used, and the characteristics of each region's situation. It should be noted that this situation refers to the interaction between environmental factors such as soil, availability of water, light, and nutrients, as well as other factors that may positively or negatively affect the growth of forest plantations.

This difference is modest, considering that in some areas of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, average productivity can vary between 10 and 54 m³ / ha / year (Finger, 1991). Among other factors, this occurs because a wide variety of soils can be found in the state as a consequence of the complexity of geological formations and the climatic factors present.

Similarly, Uruguay also hosts a wide range of soils that influence the growth of forest species in the country.

Uruguay's forest economy only stretches back a few decades, and forest growth in terms of plantations and industrialization is very recent. Despite Uruguay's proximity to Rio Grande do Sul, and possible exchange of techniques, Uruguay still is behind Brazil in terms of forest technology (genetic improvement and forestry methods), which causes the plantations in Rio Grande do Sul to have higher rates of productivity than the plantations in Uruguay.

Bio
I am a transplanted New Yorker living in Paraná, Brazil; I have been working with writing and editing since my days at Cornell University, and began translating after graduating and moving to Japan. In 2006 I moved to Brazil and transitioned from Japanese to Brazilian Portuguese, and continue to translate only into English.
The majority of my work is in the applied and life sciences: engineering projects related to forestry and manufacturing, new developments in agriculture and energy production, and journal articles in the applied sciences and medicine (both human and veterinary). I have also worked on medical device regulatory documentation (specifically in the area of cardiology) and back-translation projects related to medical trials.
In addition to translating, I revise texts written in English by non-native speakers.
