Source text - English Ecology is usually considered as a branch of biology, the general science that studies living organisms. Organisms can be studied at many different levels, from proteins and nucleic acids (in biochemistry and molecular biology), to cells (in cellular biology), to individuals (in botany, zoology, and other similar disciplines), and finally at the level of populations, communities, and ecosystems, to the biosphere as a whole; these latter strata are the primary subjects of ecological inquiry. Ecology is a multidisciplinary science. Because of its focus on the higher levels of the organization of life on earth and on the interrelations between organisms and their environment, ecology draws on many other branches of science, especially geology and geography, meteorology, pedology, genetics, chemistry, and physics. Thus, ecology is considered by some to be a holistic science, one that over-arches older disciplines such as biology which in this view become sub-disciplines contributing to ecological knowledge. In support of viewing ecology as a subject in its own right as opposed to a sub-discipline of biology, Robert Ulanowicz stated that "The emerging picture of ecosystem behavior does not resemble the worldview imparted by an extrapolation of conceptual trends established in other sciences."

Organizmy mogą być badane na wielu różnych poziomach, z białek i kwasów nukleinowych (w biochemii i biologii molekularnej), do komórek (w biologii komórkowej), do osób fizycznych (w botanice, zoologii i innych podobnych dyscyplin), i wreszcie na poziomie populacji, społeczności i ekosystemów, do biosfery jako całości; te ostatnie warstwy są podstawowym tematem ekologicznie śledczym. Ekologia to wielodyscyplinarna nauka. Zorganizowano ją z okazji Światowego Dnia Reumatyzmu, który obchodzimy 12 października. Na spotkaniu zostały przedstawione wyniki badania opinii publicznej na temat wiedzy Polaków o reumatoidalnym zapaleniu stawów (RZS), poważnej chorobie, która może prowadzić do kalectwa. Dotyczy ona nie tylko stawów, ale też wielu innych układów i narządów, m.in. układu krążenia, nerek, układu oddechowego. Towarzyszy mu również większa podatność na infekcje, a czasem niedobór śliny i łez.
Badania te potwierdziły niską świadomość społeczną na temat zagrożeń związanych z RZS. Ogółem, o RZS słyszało 58 proc. Polaków, a niemal 40 proc. w ogóle nie kojarzy tej choroby. "W polskim społeczeństwie występuje wiele stereotypów na temat RZS, które mogą opóźniać zgłaszanie się pacjentów do lekarza i wczesne rozpoznawanie choroby, co jest kluczem do skutecznego leczenia" - podkreślił prof. Witold Tłustochowicz, prezes Polskiego Towarzystwa Reumatologicznego.

This was organized on the occasion of World Day of the rheumatism, which took place on the the 12 October. At the meeting, results of opinion polls were presented about the knowledge of Poles on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a serious disease that can lead to disability. It concerns not only the joints, but also many other systems and organs, including cardiovascular, kidney, respiratory infection. It is also accompanied by greater susceptibility to infection and sometimes a shortage of saliva and tears.
These studies have confirmed low public awareness about the risks associated with RA. Overall, about 58 percent if Poles have heard about RA, and nearly 40 percent did not know about the disease. "In the Polish society there are many stereotypes about RA, which can delay the reporting of patients to the doctor and the early diagnosis of the disease, which is the key to effective treatment" - Professor stressed. Witold Tłustochowicz, president of the Polish Association of Rheumatology.
