Wherever and whenever it can, science puts all matters to the test. Mysticism welcomes this part of the scientific attitude. It has nothing to fear from such a practical examination. But there is a drawback here. No scientist can test it in a laboratory. He must test it in his own person and over a long period.
Owing to the widespread ignorance of the subject, there are some people who are disturbed by various fears of meditation. They believe it to be harmful to mental sanity or even a kind of traffic with Satan. Such fears are groundless. Meditation has been given by God to man for his spiritual profit, not for his spiritual destruction.
I would be failing in a duty to those less fortunate if through fear of being thought a boaster I failed to state that my researches have led me to the certain discovery of the soul …
Translation - Romanian … Aceste cuvinte nu au niciun sens pentru o mentalitate materialistă care încă priveşte toate experienţele spirituale ca pe un rezultat al unor stări patologice. O asemenea atitudine, din fericire, a devenit mai puţin sigură pe sine decât atunci când am început aceste studii şi experimente, cu nu mai puţin de treizeci de ani în urmă.

Oriunde şi oricând are ocazia, ştiinţa testează toate aspectele vieţii. Misticismul întâmpină această parte a atitudinii ştiinţifice. Nu se teme de nimic în urma unei asemenea verificări practice. Dar există aici şi o altă faţetă. Niciun om de ştiinţă nu o poate testa în laborator. Trebuie să o testeze pe propria sa persoană, de-a lungul unei lungi perioade de timp.
Datorită vastei ignoranţe asupra acestui aspect, există persoane care sunt deranjate de diferite temeri faţă de meditaţie. O consideră dăunătoare sănătăţii mentale sau chiar un pact cu Diavolul. Aceste temeri sunt nefondate. Meditaţia a fost dată de către Dumnezeu omului pentru binele său spiritual nu pentru distrugerea sa.
Ar însemna să nu-mi fac datoria faţă de cei mai puţin norocoşi, dacă din teama de a fi considerat un lăudăros nu aş afirma că cercetările mele m-au condus spre o anume descoperire a sufletului…
