I built up my Portuguese-to-English translation business after 30 years as an American journalist in Latin America (UPI, Fairchild Publications, The Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, the Latin American Daily Post), most of the time (since 1970) in Brazil (also the Caribbean and Argentina), which deeply grounded me in the languages and culture of the region. I now specialize in translations for large Brazilian and multinational corporations and high-end coffee table books. My client list has included dozens of the top Brazilian companies - banks, manufacturers, base industry, exporters, insurers, service suppliers, equity analysts and much more. Typical products are Annual Reports, Social/Environmental Reports, Quarterly Earnings Reports, web sites, specialty books and much more. Typically, I am involved in large publishing projects and average 150,000 words a month in corporate translations, where speedy, reliable delivery and profound understanding of the source language's nuances, especially business topics, is required. And, of course, a flair for stylish writing in English. My work is often praised as "being better than the original Portuguese."
