I have been asked to do a job in Trados. I do not have the full version of Trados, and this client dose not have a lot of work for me. So I was trying to see if I could 'get away' with purchasing the starter pack and not the full package. Any input will be greatly appreciated!

"Trados" can mean many different things, for instance "Trados Translator's Workbench" (part of SDL Trados 2007, ie. the "old" Trados) or "SDL Trados Studio" (ie. the "new" Trados).
If you go for Studio 2011 Starter Edition, you won't be able to deal with Workbench jobs. Lots of agencies out there are still using Workbench, no matter what SDL wants you to believe. So check first with your client and ask them for details about the "job in Trados" they want you to perform.

Even if the job is big, for the first 30 days your Starter version will work as a full version so you will have a month to decide if it is enough or no. You can always update it later.

Best Regards
