This year's turnover is down by 15-20% compared to last year's. It remained on track until the last 4-5 months, when a steady stream of work apparently dried up. On the other hand, I find it very rewarding to shorten my non-translation-related to-do list like maintenance, works and purchases. I haven't attempted to correct the situation yet, but I will have to if nothing changes next year. It will also be an opportunity to see how helpful the Plus package actually is to... 2016 has been positive, after a slow first semester (kind of welcome, as 2015 was an extraordinary year work-wise), things started to pick up speed around August. I have been working almost non-stop for a month to deliver a huge EN-PT translation next Monday… So, it’s time to get back to work! | | | Mostly positive | Dec 16, 2016 |
But it's nothing to do with luck. I spent much of 2014 ensuring 2015 would be a good year in the office. I doubt I could afford it for my daughter to add Playmobil figures to it and it may be a little too large in size for that, but congrats anyway. Translators do great stuff when away from their desk (fly planes, run states, build ships...). ( - ;

It has been a great year for me in terms of work and earnings but the rest ... very disheartening on many levels
In terms of work: positive In terms of health (all the family): next question please In terms of couple (me and my partner): next question please In terms of concerts attended: very positive Looking forward to 2017! | | | Susanna Martoni Italy Local time: 01:13 Member (2009) Spanish to Italian + ... To me this year has been mostly positive for work. This is positive. My desperation: to earn something, to live decently (some holidays, some free time here and there), I have to work and work and work. Sometimes, I think, it is too much. But perhaps time and age teach that it is better to work less and enjoy more? A neverending story, I dare say.

Why is this poll only for members? It's certainly not original enough to help justify the £80 membership fee. Nor are the daily "best rate" requests from Chindia that I'm now getting. I'm clearly near the top of the rankings now, but still nobody is interested in paying a living wage. ProZ could usefully have an automatic filter which blocks emails from agencies unless they agree in advance to pay the translator's stated prices. I... See more Why is this poll only for members? Increasingly I feel that what we really need is a site very like ProZ but with the emphasis on Pro. PS Nice ship. And 2016 has been a good year for me.

[Edited at 2016-12-16 11:59 GMT] …I agree with you wholeheartedly. A side note: Proz decided to update its pricing structure to two tiers. Still not a bargain. And what about the thousands of translation students, or students interested in pursuing a career in translation? No student discount either. Mmmm. I hope the Ferrari looks great in your garage, Mr. D. | | | Rebecca Garber Local time: 19:13 Member (2005) German to English + ... Mostly technical. | Dec 16, 2016 |

Despite all the complaints that this year was too slow for everyone, we have 70% of the members stating it was generally positive. Are the ProZ members doing better than the average? We'll never know, unless another identical poll is posted allowing everyone to vote, and not only members.
But I've had commitments and challenges that kept me from working the entire year. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: My 2016 in translation has been Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
