Yes (traditional for my family) Dec 31, 2016

What we usually eat «chez moi» for our end-of-year supper is a mixture of Portuguese traditional food (goat kid marinated over night in white wine with rosemary, garlic, mustard, honey, lemon and orange slowly roasted with potatoes and veggies) with an American dessert my daughters love (pecan pie). I’m much more traditional in what regards Christmas Eve supper (codfish and turkey are always in the menu)…

Wishing you all a very happy 2017 with lots and lots of translations!... See more

My OH eats smoked pork neck with potato salad, the kind with vinegar. Tradition is to not eat fowl or fish so that your 'luck' doesn't fly or swim away, so for myself I'll be making pork carnitas. We'll also be doing all the housework today, as we don't want to end up doing housework the entire year (another proverb here, where your whole year is set up by what you do on New Year's). Sorry, on the tablet so punctuatio andgrMmar are jammed up.

Hapoy new year to all

Roni

Probably. But perhaps a day later than traditionally, due to a recent bereavement.

In the course of years... Dec 31, 2016

The Mexican (not localized/Germanized, meaning no peas) meal has become a beloved tradition. Really hot and all homemade:)

Yes Dec 31, 2016

Traditionally, the Danish New Year meal was steamed cod fish with potatoes, but I don't think a lot of people have that any more. My guess is that most people eat some roast with potatoes today.

My own family has lived different places in the world. so we decided to make one of our favorites the traditional New Year's meal:
Leg of lamb with garlic plus cream potatoes (potatoes, onions, crème fraiche and cheese) all prepared in the oven and served with steamed green beans.

Dessert is mint/chocolate ice cream.

Maybe you're saying something fabulous, but those of us who don't read Arabic will never know.

Yes, but something simple Dec 31, 2016

We'll be only four people. My kids all found their own way and their own parties this year. So I'm going to my father's place, and we'll make a small dinner.

Thanks, Louisa, for the translation.

PS: I recently met a Tunisian PhD student, a young woman devoted to researching cosmetic chemicals or something.
