Is it even possible? I couldn't find such an option, or an option to report a user, even.

More and more, I've been receiving offers that are not at all related to translation, like the recent "Social Media Evaluator" email I've just received. I would like to have the option to not receive contact from the user sending that kind of offer anymore, so blocking them would be something I'd like to have. I'm not sure if marking the email as spam would work, or if it would filter other emails sent through ProZ.

How do you deal with this?

At the bottom of the e-mail you received, should be a footer, with the text "Block profile messages from this sender:" and a link you can click. Some e-mail programs hide footers from the user, so perhaps you can't see the footer due to your e-mail program's settings.

AFAIK there is no option to block a specific user from sending you job posts. If you believe the job post contravenes ProZ.com rules, you should report it. At the bottom of the web page with the job on it, there is a link labelled "[Report this job to site staff]". However, if the job is vaguely language related, then it may be that ProZ.com will rule that the job is allowed.

The footer is there, but I only have "To adjust your ProZ.com email preferences, visit this page:" and "For technical assistance, please submit a support request:"

From the first link, it seems that I can manually add a user's id in order to block them, but it's weird that I can't do it straight from their page.

It's not actually a job on ProZ, I think, just a message sent through ProZ. Probably sent massively to many users. If it were a job, though, I think I could filter them from https://www.proz.com/dashboard/jobs/?sp_jobs_mode=flagsandfilters

If it's similar to the "Web Search Evaluator" I keep seeing in my pairs, I can say from experience: "Report this Job" usually results in the job disappearing after a short time, but does not appear to deter the poster from reposting it the next day or the next week.

Filtering profile message senders Mar 26, 2019

Hello all,

To prevent unwanted profile messages from specific users you can add them to a block list via https://www.proz.com/?sp=profile&eid_s=1721573&sp_mode=settings&sp_submode=ef . Hello all,

To prevent unwanted profile messages from specific users you can add them to a block list via https://www.proz.com/?sp=profile&eid_s=1721573&sp_mode=settings&sp_submode=ef . In that section you can also add a message to show to anyone trying to contact you via profile mail at ProZ.com. This message will show at the top of the profile mail form and may help to clarify the type of messages you are willing to receive or the ones that don't interest you.

Then, you can filter specific job posters via https://www.proz.com/dashboard/jobs/?sp_jobs_mode=flagsandfilters , but as you correctly noticed, Gabriel, this only applies to automatic job notifications, not direct email messages.

Finally, if you come across any job posting that may not be of interest to language professionals as explained by job posting rule #1, please report it to site staff. Posts that are not in line with job posting rules will be removed and posters warned or even blocked depending on the case.

Hope this helps.

Lucia
