Description This 3-hour workshop will provide the basic information and resources needed to study the basic terminology used in the healthcare industry when dealing in multicultural environments and individuals having a limited proficiency in the language of the prevalent culture. Some of the topics covered include medical terminology, such as anatomy, physiology, diseases, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, including basic operative procedures. The body systems will be reviewed (musculoskeletal, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, gynecological, and others). Similarly, general terminology used in the healthcare and insurance industries, as well as common terminology used in non-emergency clinical encounters.
