I’m a biologist with a PhD in animal physiology (1999, thesis: the role of protein kinases in peripheral nerve regeneration) running my own translation firm since 2004.
Experience
After working for AstraZeneca’s dossier management group (handling chemical, manufacturing and compliance documentation for the product OXIS and the active ingredients Budesonide and Formoterol) I later worked as a translator for the patent consultancy firm AWAPatent (Sweden’s largest patent consultancy firm). This experience in combination with my interest in languages led me to start my own translating firm.
My firm
The focus, as for my time at AWAPatent, was on translating EU patent texts within the chemistry field (mostly pharmaceuticals, biotech and medical devices) until 2008, when changing rules necessitated an expansion of the firm’s scope. After acquiring SDL Trados and being accepted as a freelancer for several international translating agencies I now specialize in translating biology (biotech, biochemistry, microbiology), pharmaceuticals, chemistry, medical and patent texts.
Myself
I’ve always been interested in languages, but also know my limitations, so I only translate from English and German into my native language, Swedish. This is also in line with the ethics of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFOE) of which I’m a qualified member. Since my time with AWAPatent I know that speed, thoroughness and language sensibility are essential components for a successful professional translation. I take great pride in always delivering any tasks A.S.A.P. (often well ahead of schedule) with an emphasis placed on getting the target language just so.
