English to Tagalog: How to progress in learning foreign language
Source text - English As you continue working with a foreign language, you may at times feel as though you are stuck on a plateau—struggling along at the same level without seeing any improvement. What can you do? First, reflect on your original reasons for learning the language. Reflecting on your original goals or purpose can reinforce your resolve. Second, have reasonable expectations. Rather than lamenting that you are not as fluent as you are in your mother tongue, focus on communicating clearly using what you have already learned. Third, look for milestones to gauge your progress. When you look back to when you first started, no doubt you will see that you’ve made advancement. Avoid judging your progress by that of others. Fifth, use the new language as much as possible. Use the language on a regular basis. Keep at it. Converse, converse, converse! Naturally, it can be frustrating to try to communicate when you have the vocabulary of a small child. “The hardest part for me is not being able to say what I want to when I want to,” laments Minerva. But that very frustration can motivate you to persevere. “I hated being at a level where I couldn’t understand stories and jokes,” recalls Mike. “I think such feelings pushed me to work harder to pass through that stage.”

Source text - English The first dye that was not derived from natural sources is attributed to William Henry Perkin in 1856. An exhibit explains Perkin’s discovery of mauve, or mauveine, an intense purple dye. By the end of the 19th century, many other synthetic dyes in brilliant colors had been developed. Today over 8,000 types of synthetic dyes are manufactured. The only natural products still in regular use are logwood and cochineal.
The Colour and Textiles Gallery of the Colour Museum explains the special processes needed today to dye synthetic materials, such as rayon. Viscose rayon, the most popular type of rayon in current use, was first produced commercially in 1905. As viscose rayon is chemically similar to cotton, most of the dyes available at that time were suitable for use. However, several new types of dyes had to be developed for more-modern synthetic materials such as acetate rayon, polyester, nylon, and acrylic fiber.
