Source text - English Madrid, October 16, 2010.- The image of the “Virgen de Regla” from Seville will be the finishing touch to the WYD Stations of the Cross.
Emilio Santiago del Pino, the representative of the Brotherhood affirms, “It is a great joy for Seville to be present in this universal Way of the Cross.”
The “Brotherhood of the Bakers” is very proud to allow the youth from all over the world to participate in “our way of loving and venerating the Blessed Mother,” says Antonio Mejías, the delegate of the Brotherhood for World Youth Day 2011.
There is also a lot of excitement in the youth group of the Brotherhood, which has 384 members. “After the approval for the image to participate in the Stations of the Cross, we, the young people of our Brotherhood, experienced a feeling of joy, enthusiasm, and commitment,” commented José Delgado, the delegate of the youth of the Brotherhood. This feeling of commitment will soon bring about a project of Christian formation to prepare the image bearers of the Brotherhood that will go to WYD.
Spain, Land of MaryIn 2003 John Paul II visited the same places where WYD will take place. He said good-bye with these words, “Farewell Spain, farewell Land of Mary.”
“In our country we are characterized by our devotion to the Blessed Mother. And she is the one who is going to help us to live the Passion of her Son better, and end this Way of the Cross with spiritual fruit,” says Fr. Javier Cremades, director of the WYD Main Events.
The image of Our Lady of Sorrows will not be one of the stations but, “just as she was left alone after Our Lord was laid in the tomb, we will say a prayer in front of the beautiful Sevillian image at the end of the last station to accompany and to console her. It is definitely the finishing touch, and we thank the Brotherhood for offering to participate with such enthusiasm. We are very grateful. This Way of the Cross is a blessing from God,” Cremades explained.
The “Virgen de Regla” is the only image of the WYD Stations of the Cross that was made by a woman. It is attributed to Luisa Roldán, daughter of the famous Sevillian artist, Pedro Roldán. She was formed in her father’s workshop and worked in Seville during her youth. In 1692 King Charles II made her his official sculptress, a postion that she maintained later with Phillip V.
This sculpture will give the finishing touch to the WYD 2011 Stations of the Cross, which will consist in 14 images made within the last four centuries that have a great artistic and devotional value. They are sculptures that were made to teach the faith, and the will serve to help all the young people from all parts of the world to pray, and to draw closer to the Passion of the Lord.
Translation - Tagalog Madrid, October 16, 2010.- Ang imahen ng "Virgen de Regla" (Birhen ng Reglamento o Tuntunin) mula sa Sevilla ang magtatapos sa Estasyon ng Krus sa Pandaigdigang Araw ng Kabataan (PAK).
Sinabi ni Emilio Santiago del Pino, isang kinatawan ng Kapatiran ng Bakers (Brotherhood of Bakers), "Masayang-masaya ang Sevilla na maging bahagi sa Mga Estasyon ng Krus."
"Ang Kapatiran ng Bakers ay masaya sa pagbigay ng pagkakataon sa mga kabataan sa buong mundo na makisama sa pagpapakita ng pagmamahal sa Mahal na Birhen", sabi naman ni Antonio Mejias, isang delegado ng Kapatiran ng Bakers para sa PAK 2011.
Malaking kagalakan ang nagaganap sa grupo ng kabataan ng Kapatiran, na mayroong mga 384 na miyembro. Nang ma-aprubahan ang pagsali ng Imahen sa Mga Estasyon ng Krus, kaming mga kabataan ng Kapatiran ay malugod na nagalak at nakaranas ng ganap na entusiasmo, sabi ni Jose Delgado, isang delegado ng mga kabataan ng Kapatiran. Ang karanasang ito ay magbibigay-bunga sa isang proyektong pormasyon Kristiyano upang maihanda ang mga miyembro ng Kapatiran na magpupunta sa PAK.
Espanya, Lupa ni Maria
Binisita ni Juan Pablo II ang mga lugar kung saan magaganap ang PAK noong 2003. Ito ang kanyang mga huling salita: "Paalam Espanya, paalam, Lupa ni Maria."
"Ang aming bansa ay kilala sa aming debosyon para sa Mahal na Ina. Siya ang tutulong sa atin upang maisabuhay nang mas mabuti ang Pagpapakasakit ng kayang Anak. Sa ganitong paraan ay magbibigay ang Mga Estasyon ng Krus ng bungang espirtual", sabi ni Fr. Javier Cremades, Main Events director ng PAK.
"Hindi magiging estasyon ang imahen ng Ina ng Hapis (Our Lady of Sorrows), ngunit, gaya ng nangyari nang maiwan si Maria habang ang Panginoon ay inihihimlay sa kanyang libingan, magdarasal tayo sa harap ng magandang Imahen ng Mahal na Birhen na mula sa Sevilla, upang makiramay sa Mahal na Birhen. Ito ang magiging "finishing touch" sa Estasyon ng Krus. Nagpapasalamat kami sa Kapatiran sa kanilang malugod na pagsali. Kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat. Ang Estasyon ng Krus na ito ay isang grasya mula sa Diyos", dagdag ni Cremades.
Ang "Virgen de Regla" ay ang tanging imahen sa Mga Estasyon ng Krus na gawa ng isang babae. Pinaniniwalaang ito'y gawa ni Luisa Roldan, anak ng isang kilalang Sevillanong eskultor na si Pedro Roldan. Si Luisa ay natuto sa silid-gawaaan ng kanyang ama, at siya'y nagtrabaho sa Sevilla noong kanyang kabataan. Noong 1692, ginawa siyang opisyal na eskultor ni Haring Carlos II, at nagpatuloy ito hanggang sa panahon ni Haring Philip V.
Ang imahen ng "Virgen de Regla" ang magtatapos sa Mga Estasyon ng Krus ng PAK 2011. Ang Mga Estasyon ng Krus ay magkakaroon ng 14 na mga imahen na gawa mula sa nakaraan apat na siglo. Kilala ang mga imahen na ito sa kanilang halagang artistiko at debosyon. Ang mga imahen na ito ay ginawa upang maituro ang pananampalataya. Makakatulong ang mga imahen na ito sa mga kabataan mula sa iba't ibang parte ng mundo upang magdasal at mapalapit sa Pagpapakasakit ng Panginoon.

I am a Computer Science graduate from the top university in the Philippines. I worked for 5 years in a software development company that sells investment analysis tools and information for investors in the financial markets. After 5 years in the corporate industry, I worked as a computer systems administrator in a Non Government Organization (NGO) focussing on youth development and formation. I now spend most of my time managing an NGO, while spending a bit of my free time in securities investment and translations.
I have a strong passion for language since young. My native language is Tagalog, but like all Filipinos, English is the educational language of instruction since primary school, so I'm fluent in both languages. I have spent a great time studying Spanish. I regularly read Spanish articles and can translate from Spanish to English. I also have basic knowledge of Latin and Italian. Now I'm staying in Cebu and have been studying Cebuano (Visayan).
