I work in the Ministerial Correspondence Team responsible for liaising with the MP offices and drafting Ministerial replies to the Members of Parliament. My work involves interviewing clients and customers, translating legal and financial documents, sampling and quality assuring draft correspondence. As a team leader I was responsible for developing interpersonal and communication skills of staff.

April 2010 – Present: Freelance Translator in London and South East

I work for several agencies as a translator from English to Russian and from Russian to English. Topics include: European financial crisis, climate change and global warming, illegal immigration and human trafficking, development of Russia’s cooperation with emerging economies. Apart from the above named recent translation projects, I translate sets of legal documents that include:

August 1991 – June 2004: Entrepreneur in various private companies

I worked in several Russian, Swedish, Dutch, Bulgarian and British private companies that were involved in the wholesale international foodstuffs trade. I was managing the following main projects: export of frozen fish from Lerwick, Ullapool, Hull, Plymouth and Limerick to Eastern Europe and Nigeria; export of chocolate, sweets and chewing gum from Switzerland, Germany and Holland to Russia and Bulgaria. I was responsible for negotiating prices and terms of contracts with suppliers and buyers.

August 1979 – July 1991: Civil Servant in Ministry of Fisheries of Russia

I was responsible for establishing and running Russian-foreign joint-stock companies abroad that provided supplies and services to Russian fishing fleet worldwide. My work involved talks and negotiations with business authorities and counterparts in Russia and foreign countries. I was on a long-term posting in Angola and travelled extensively as a business world-wide floater.
