- A "500P". That's the name of this preparation we're going to spray over our vineyard's soils.
- Hi, Bruno.
- So you have a vineyard worker now?

- Richard is clever.
For the occasion, Richard has allied himself with Bruno Rochard, a neighboring winemaker. They both work towards the same goals. Well? What is this stuff?
- It's horn manure.
- Sorry?
Mixed by a powerful beater, a brownish water is rapidly swirling in the vat.
- It's cow manure that's spent the winter stored buried inside cow horns. It's thought that this mixture improves the life of the soil.
- Oh yeah?
- Per hectare, we put in 100 grams of manure and 30 liters of water. For my six hectares and Richard's three, we've therefore made 270 liters.
- Look at that bum smile!
- A hundred grams of dried manure is about this much. And for the readers who will have lost their grasp of metrics, I'll respectfully remind you that a "hectare" is one hundred meters by ine hundred meters, meaning ten thousand square meters.

Til lejligheden har Richard allieret sig med Bruno Rochard, en nabo-vinmager. De arbejde begge mod de samme mål.

- Det er horngødning.
- Undskyld, hvad?
Blandet sammen af et kraftigt piskeris, hvirvler et brunligt vand hurtigt rundt i tanken.
- Det er ko-gødning som har overvintret nedgravet i kohorn. Det menes at denne mikstur forbedrer jordens liv.
- Okay?
- Per hektar giver vi 100 gram mikstur og 30 liter vand. Til mine seks hektar, og til Richards tre, har vi derfor lavet 270 liter.
- Se lige det fjogede smil!
100 gram tørret gødning er kun ca. så meget her. Og for læsere som måtte have mistet deres målestokssans, vil jeg respektfuldt minde dig om at en ”hektar” er et hundrede meter gange et hundrede meter, hvilket vil sige ti tusind kvadratmeter.
