Source text - English MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
Albuquerque’s museums reflect the region’s unique heritage and rich history, natural or not. Let’s start with several in or near Old Town, and then fan out.
American International Rattlesnake
Museum
Let the squeamish beware. This museum houses the world’s largest collection of poisonous snakes. Slithering about in natural settings – and all safely behind glass – they can most often be seen resting indolently, coiled beneath a piece of petrified wood. With your fears addressed, you might even discover a fascination for the legless creatures and find that you can’t live without a rattlesnake license plate to adorn your car. 203 San Felipe Street NW; 505-242-6569.
Albuquerque Museum of Art and History
This huge, city-owned museum documents 400 years of the state’s history and pro¬vides an excellent introduction to the history of Albuquerque. Through the years, it has amassed a fabulous collection of works by New Mexico artists, and these pieces are often on exhibit. Regularly changing shows in the main gallery are usu¬ally well worth a visit as well, and listening and dancing to local salsa bands and jazz combos in the museum’s sculpture garden is a wonderful way to spend a summer evening. 2000 Mountain Road NW; 505-242-4600.
Translation - Russian
505-242-4600.
