elder abuse?
Physical Abuse: Slapping or hitting seniors can cause bruising, cuts, or broken bones. Physical abuse also includes forced confinement and not allowing seniors to get medical help.
Emotional/Psychological Abuse: Seniors may show low self-esteem, fear, anxiety, or withdrawal as a result of being insulted, frightened, threatened, ignored, or isolated.
Financial Abuse: Financial abuse can include fraud, theft, misuse of a Power of Attorney, and forced sale of belongings. Stealing money from a senior may cause their standard of living to decrease and they may not have enough food, clothing, or medication.
Sexual Abuse: Seniors who have been sexually abused may act fearful and anxious or have bruising and infections.
Neglect: Leaving seniors without food, assistance, or access to medical treatment are examples of caregiver neglect. Neglect also includes self-neglect, which refers to seniors who are unable to care for themselves.

Abuso emocional ou psicológico: Os idosos que são insultados, assustados, ameaçados, ignorados ou isolados podem sentir uma auto-estima fraca, medo, ansiedade e carências afectivas.
Exploração financeira: A exploração financeira é fraude, roubo, é abusar das procurações e forçar os idosos a vender os seus bens. Roubar dinheiro a um idoso pode baixar o seu nível de vida impedindo-o de ter comida suficiente, roupas ou medicamentos.
Abuso sexual: Os idosos vítimas de abuso sexual podem ter um comportamento medroso, ansioso, terem nódoas negras e infecções.
Negligência: Deixar os idosos sem comida, assistência ou acesso a cuidados médicos são exemplos de negligência por parte dos seus cuidadores. Negligenciar é também auto-negligência: quer dizer que os idosos são incapazes de cuidar deles próprios.
