When I lived in Washington, D.C., I was active in both the American Translators Association, headquartered there, and the local ATA chapter. I have not joined the chapter here in San Diego.

If by "local" the pollster means "national", my answer is "No". There is a "national" association here in Chile ( www.cotich.cl ), of which I am not a member. Its HQ is over 700 km from my workplace, so hardly "local". And, as Graucho Marx is reputed to have said (approximately): "If they’d have me as a member, I wouldn’t want to join - unless they promised to reimburse me 3 days' worth of viaticos to attend each of their meetings in Santiago."
