Schedule: | This session ended at 13:55 |
Description: | What happens to the data you send to Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, and other online machine translation services? How does this affect any NDAs or other agreements between translators and clients? What options exist to maintain privacy of data while using MT? In this session I will try to answer these questions by taking a look at several public online machine translation services and explaining their privacy policies in plain language, along with the practical implications for translators (also including factors like cost, technical difficulty, etc.). We will also take a look at several options that offer a range of privacy levels, including completely private systems that run on your own PC.
Attendees should gain a better idea of the practical implications of data privacy policies and options when it comes to the various machine translation systems accessible by translators. The primary goal will be to equip attendees to make informed decisions about machine translation technology when it comes to privacy. |
