bolus
n digestion, a bolus (from Latin bolus, "ball") is a mass of food that (with animals that can chew) has been chewed at the point of swallowing. Under normal circumstances, the bolus then travels down the esophagus to the stomach for digestion.[1][2]Bolus has the same colour of the food that has been chewed by the person. It is important to note that there is a difference between bolus and chyme. The bolus is a rolled up ball like structure formed when the animal is about to swallow. Its pH is alkaline because of the presence of saliva.
Chyme and bolus are different: bolus is solid, chyme is semifluid

Duodenal acid clearance appears to be involved not only in the pathogenesis of duodenal ulcer disease but also in functional dyspepsia. Duodenal contractile activity can help to maintain neutral pH in the duodenum by mixing acid with bicarbonate or by aborally transporting the acid load. Intraluminal impedance recording, allowing the detection of nonacid liquid boluses, can be carried out concomitantly with antroduodenal manometry and pH recording and may thus provide useful information about the mechanisms involved in duodenal clearance of endogenous acid and volume boluses.

When food boluses are ready to be further digested, they transfer to the duodenum by contractions of the stomach walls...he jejunum is the first part while the ileum is the second part. Here, food boluses are digested even further, and some nutrients are absorbed through the walls.

Chyme (from Wikipedia): Also known as "chymus", it is the liquid substance found in the stomach before passing through the pyloric valve and entering the duodenum. It results from the mechanical and chemical breakdown of a bolus and consists of partially digested food, water, hydrochloric acid, and various digestive enzymes. |
Discussion
Our reasoning is that since that yellow “thing” has been stuck in the diverticulum for a while, it became dehydrated and therefore more solid. (My wife only has PA training but these terms pop up in daily practice.)
Still looking for our textbook on the GI tract although the one below covers the idea, at least partially:
http://books.google.com/books?id=5b6gj9wE-PsC&pg=PA11&lpg=PA...
Lastly, I’m afraid it cannot be a bezoar. The context states that this yellow mass consists of food whereas bezoars are lumps of indigestible materials (hair, fur, feathers, cellulose, etc.)
Have a wonderful evening!
I spoke with a surgeon about this. We may be both right but for different reasons. You are right that past the stomach what should remain is chyme. For whatever reason, the question refers to "masa pokarmowa," which connotes something that holds together. It is for that reason that I chose bolus.
Below, I report on further research, as I see bolus and duedunum mentioned in the same breath. Perhaps, literary has additional information about the sense in which masa pokarmowa is used.
In any case, it has been my singular pleasure to exchange views with you (how many of you are there?).
