There is no equivalent for the Polish "studia zaoczne" in English. Students of Polish studia zaoczne have from 50% to 60% of the number of normal university classes that stationary students have. The difference is that classes are not held on weekdays but on weekends (usually 2, sometimes 3 weekends in the month). The word EXTRAMURAL is a kind of misunderstanding because extramural concerns studies without being present at the university. Written EXTRA-MURAL reminds me of a form of veterinary education. It is also not distance learning. English "Part-time studies" is also a different thing, because Part-time studies is associated with extending the duration of studies, e.g. from 2 to 4 years. To make it understandable we should translate "zaoczne" reflecting the real state of affairs of such studies, taking into account these 50-60% of classes at the university, i.e. call it "semi-stationary studies" or "seminar studies" referring to the specific timetable.
