Miss X is not eligible for social housing in her own right

pochodzi z listu będącego odpowiedzią na podanie o przyznanie mieszkania i nie bardzo rozumiem użycie zwrotu "In her own right" w tym zdaniu - chodzi o jakieś kwestie prawne dotyczące budownictwa społecznego czy o coś innego?

In a word, Yes. She does not have the right, herself, to apply. From what I remember ( and don't quote me on this) she would need to have worked for a full continuous 12 months. That does not stop her applying with a partner who has worked for 12 mths.

It is the UK indeed. And from the letter I asume she already lives with someone and there for she does not qualify for social housing. So does thes phrase mean she has no right to apply for s.h.?

Social Housing in the UK, and I am assuming this is the UK, is based on a points system, i.e. size of family, age of children, alternative options etc. It is not the lack of points that are at issue here, but that Miss X does not legally qualify for S.H.

nie kwalifikuje się, gdyż nie spełnia warunków

znalazłam taką definicję:
in one's own right - by reason of one's own ability or ownership etc.
"ownership" jest tu ciekawy w tej definicji.
wygląda na to, że panna x nie kwalifikuje się (nie przysługuje jej mieszk.) ponieważ nie spełnia warunków niezbędnych do otrzymania mieszkania (czyli np. jest już właścicielką jakiegoś lokum)
wiem, że to trochę masło maślane, ale moim zdaniem we frazie "in her own right" nie kryje się żaden haczyk - po prostu "nie spełnia warunków" i tyle.
