Article abbreviation...

français vers anglais Droit / Brevets Droit (général)
Can anyone assist with the following abbreviations. It's a bit blurry on the fax..

"art. 24 al. 1 en relation avec l'art. 22 lit. a"

It refers to clauses in a set of regulations. Article x in conjunction with Article Y - I get that much. But what are these "al" and "lit" bits???
Proposed translations (anglais)
2 +1 alinéa; lettre
5 alinéa
4 alinea

alinea is generally transalted as "paragraph" but I've not seen "lil" before.
