Spanish term

haciendo fallar al muro medianero

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering houses damaged by earthquake
Se observa el muro de contención de adobe que está saturado y sobre el cual existe el muro que está aportando carga y haciendo fallar al muro medianero.

I understand what they mean but I'm not sure what's the best way to translate it. What do you think of simply "damaging the party wall"? or perhaps "causing the party wall to fail/break"?

Thank you for your help :)

Thank you, desertfox - Mike :)
disagree trnet : Sorry Mike. It is not an internal wall in a building. Midwall is a partition wall in a MINE underground. See my description.

causing the partition to break down/crumble

According to Routledge, "muro medianero" is used for mining terms but "medianera" means "partition" with regards to construction. I agree with Mike's translation however it depends on what kind of "wall" they mean.

ROUTLEDGE SPANISH TECHNICAL DICTIONARY:
medianera f
CONST arquitectura partition

I have put either "break down" or "crumble" as, if the partition is made from adobe then I think it would literally crumble.
Note from asker:
Hi Sandra. In this report they are talking about the walls of the damaged houses, the walls between them. Perhaps the person who wrote the report didn't know the difference between "muro medianero" and "pared medianera" :)

Thanks Daniel :)
disagree trnet : sorry, a partition sounds "internal". This is more than a partition, see my description.
