The correlation between intercept and slope did not reliably distinguish between couples that dissolved and those that remained intact. For husbands, intercepts and slopes were significantly positively correlated on three out of four measures in both groups. For wives, intercepts and slopes were significantly positively correlated on two out of four measures in both groups. The differences in the two groups were tested through r-to-z transformations; none of these tests proved significant.

A Dictionary of Psychology | Date: 2001
Fisher's r to z transformation n. In statistics, a method of transforming product-moment correlation coefficients into standard scores or z scores to facilitate interpretation and to enable tests such as those for the significance of the difference between two correlation coefficients to be carried out.[Named after the English statistician and geneticist Ronald Aylmer Fisher (1890–1962)]
