Bio
I am a full-time native Polish translator and interpreter working both from English into Polish and from Polish into English. I also work as a copywriter and freelance journalist. It requires a lot of enthusiasm, flexibility and thirst for knowledge, it also takes a high degree of self discipline, and sense of responsibility. And that’s exactly who I am – exceptionally organized, creative, able to work under the pressure of deadlines and respectful towards my clients and their time. I never allow myself to be late with a task I was entrusted with or to deliver something that is not up to a standard. Irrespectively of how much I am interested in the subject matter I always provide top quality, professional translation.

Translation experience

I’ve taken up translation while getting my university education. As books and articles written by the authors I wanted to quote in my master’s thesis were not translated into Polish, I’ve decided to do the job myself. Majority of this thesis was published as a separate chapter in a book entitled ‘Reżyserki kina. Tradycja i współczesność’ (‘Women Directors in the past and now’) edited by Malgorzata Radkiewicz (Cracow, 2005). I have been a full-time translator since 2009 and I use SDL Trados Studio 2009 as my main CAT tool. So far I worked on various projects including preparation of Polish edition of The Sun magazine, documentation of a power station, countless manuals, letters and other documents including:

• Literary/philosophical texts,
• Articles (various),
• Business texts,
• Marketing content,
• Business documentation,
• Certificates,
• General texts,
• Health and safety documentation,
• Product catalogues,
• Semi-scientific texts (among others: IT, history, ecology, geography, religion, genetics),
• Web pages.

Work Record and Stays Abroad

Apart from my expertise in the field of translation I also have experience in management, preparation of business documentation and correspondence.

While studying at Jagiellonian University in Cracow (Masters Degree in the field of Cultural Studies; specialization of Film & Media, Faculty of Management and Social Communication, 2004) I worked as a lecturer of Educational Academy of Film and Media in Cinema City Imax Krakow Plaza where I taught children and youths about history of the cinema, process of filmmaking and latest achievements such as 3D Imax Technology. I also trained teachers on how to implement media education into school program.

After graduation, in 2004, I moved to United Kingdom where I gained professional experience working as Events Manager for Everyman Media Group in London (Everyman). I was responsible for coordinating all aspects of special events, premieres and venue hires including contacts with film distributors and the press, planning marketing strategies of my department, meeting potential clients and business partners. I worked on various greatly successful projects such as:

• Fabulous Picture Show by Al Jazeera English (FPS) on Everyman Cinema Club side,
• live broadcasts via satellite from the Met Opera in New York,
• Screen Salons (series of special screenings with lectures by Ian Haydn Smith),
• interviews with film and media stars and premieres.

Being the head of important department I was also participating in the process of purchasing another big firm and implementing new solutions.

In 2009, after giving birth to my son, I left London, my job and my career and went back to Poland to raise my children close to family and friends. As I soon started to miss the excitement of having a career, I’ve decided to follow my husband’s example and take up translation. I’ve had the best start into it – the experience of meeting people from all around the world, travelling widely around the UK and working in an international, vibrant environment. All of that allowed me to polish my language skills and get to know the culture, which now helps me to provide high quality translation.
