B’klyn man spent 18 days in Rikers for shooting he didn’t commit
A BROOKLYN man accused of shooting at three cops was facing life in prison until cell phone records showed he was miles away from the gunfire.
Judge Mark Dwyer yesterday dropped attempted murder charges against Shane Rhooms, 22, who spent nearly three weeks in Rikers for a crime he couldn’t possibly have committed.
Brooklyn prosecutors determined video footage at a Manhattan nightclub — and a phone call — proved he was nowhere near the Flatbush crime scene.
“I have my life now,” said an ecstatic Rhooms, who had faced 45 years to life in prison if convicted.
“Nobody believed me,” he said. “I was going to jail forever. My life was over.”
Despite the stunning reversal, police stand by their investigation.
“Detectives were and remain confident of information that led them to the suspect in the first place, of the subsequent police identifications and they remain skeptical of the purported alibi,” said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.
Cops in the 75th Precinct had fingered the 22-year-old East Flatbush resident as the suspect who squeezed off six shots at them on Sept. 6.
The officers — Lt. Robert Ortlieb and Lt. Robert Henderson and Sgt. Joseph Seminara — insisted the suspect opened fire after they spotted him smoking pot.
While police shot back, the suspect was able to get away, they said. The officers picked Rhooms — who had a prior minor arrest for lighting off fireworks — out of mug shots.

SKIING AND TOUR SKATING
In the winter time, cross-country skiing lovers can enjoy excellently-maintained ski tracks starting from the corner of the hotel. The centre tracks (2-7 km) start from 300 metres away and the equipment rental is right next door to the hotel.
The longest tour skating route (18 km) in Finland, which runs through the XXXXXXXXXXXX National Park, starts from holiday village XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, located 10 km away from Hotel XXXXXXXXXXXXX.

In a meeting held today (XXX), the board of directors at XXX XXXXXXX has stated that the co-operation negotiations started on the Xth of XXXXXXXX XXXX have ended. The purpose of the negotiations was to adjust the scale of operations to the permanent XX million euro decrease in costs. The goal has to be reached by the end of the year XXXX. Many new opportunities for savings have emerged during the co-operation negotiations. This has resulted in a plan to save approximately X million euros on staff costs.
Next, the employer will decide on the matters dealt with in the co-operation negotiations and issue a report on them. According to law, the employer's report has to be issued within a reasonable period of time since the end of the co-operation negotiations. The report will be issued and the staff will be informed by mid-March.
Among other things, the report includes information about the number of retiring staff, the total number of workers being made redundant, the breakdown of redundancies between the teaching staff, research staff and other staff, along with the date of the redundancy.

Last autumn, the board of directors at XXX XXXXXXX decided to launch a new study programme for class teachers in XXXXXXXX in XXXX, on condition that sufficient external funding for organising the training can be raised, and that a joint training with the XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX will be launched no later than the autumn of XXXX.
Now that it has become clear that the joint training with the XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX will not materialise in XXXX, the board of directors at XXX XXXXXXX concluded that it is not economically sustainable to launch a new study programme for class teachers in XXXXXXXXXXX.
"The board of directors has discussed the situation and found that the economic conditions have changed. We are already facing big economic challenges and we cannot take any more risks. It is important to us to ensure a high quality for current teacher study programmes and we will concentrate a lot of resources to them," says XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX, chairman of the board.
The board of directors states that the XXX XXXXXXX class teacher study programme and its teacher training school serve the Swedish language education of the whole country, and that future needs are anticipated in the training of teachers, taking into account the tasks and educational responsibility of the XXX XXXXXXX. In the future, XXX XXXXXXX will strengthen both its natural sciences subject teacher training and the digitalisation of teacher training.
