조선 초기에 지어진 오죽헌 내의 건물들은 1505년 병조참판을 지낸 최응현崔應賢에 의해 전승되어 오다가, 오죽헌 정화사업으로 오죽헌[별당]과 사랑채를 제외하고 모두 철거되었다. 현재의 모습은 1996년 정부의 문화재 복원 계획에 따라 옛 모습대로 복원한 것이다. 안채는 안주인이 생활하던 곳이고 사랑채는 바깥주인이 거처하던 곳이다.
사랑채의 툇마루 기둥에 걸려 있는 주련柱聯은 추사秋史 김정희金正喜의 글씨를 새긴 것이다.
Translation - English Anchae· Sarangchae
All buildings of Ojukheon House built in early Joseon Dynasty were passed down and preserved by Choi Eung-Hyun, Vice Minister of the War assumed Vice minister of the army, in 1505, however all buildings, except Ojukheon House(a detached house) and Sarangchae had been removed throughout the Ojukheon renovation project. The current structure was restored in 1996, just as it did in the old age in line with the Government’s National Heritage Restoration Project. Anchae is women’s quarter and Sarangchae is men’s quarters.
Jooryun (a verse couplet carved or written on a plank which is put on a pillar) hung on a pillar of the small floor(Teonmaru) attached Sarangchae is engraved with one of Kim Jeong-Hee’s calligraphy, nicknamed as Chusa.
