저는 박자연 학생의 동아 여자고등학교 3학년 담임교사입니다.

자연학생은 학업 및 대인관계에 매우 적극적인 학생입니다. 특히 국내, 국외 사회문제에 관심이 많습니다. 한국 사회의 문제를 다룬 ‘난장이가 쏘아올린 작은 공’ 등의 책들을 읽고 학급 토론했을 때, 다양한 사례를 제시하며 이를 해결할 수 있는 대안에 대해 친구들과 함께 모색하는 과정이 인상적이었습니다. 또한 국제 문제에 대한 관심도 많아서 국제 뉴스에 올라오는 기사를 읽고, 수업 시간에 자신의 생각을 발표하기도 하는 것이 인상적이었습니다. 학생이 두바이에서 유학한 경험이 있어서 아랍권에서 발생하는 정치, 사회 문제에 대해서 남들보다 훨씬 많은 정보를 가지고 있으면서 알기 쉽게 알려주는 역할을 하기도 하였습니다.

또한 외국어에 대한 관심과 흥미가 높은 학생이었습니다.
새로운 것에 대한 호기심이 많아서 우리와 다른 언어에 대해 관심을 가지고 기초적인 수준이나마 꼭 알고 넘어가는 학생이었습니다. 이런 기초가 바탕이 되어 대학에서는 더 깊이 있는 언어 공부를 할 수 있을 것이라고 생각됩니다. 강의식 수업에서 교사의 수업을 수동적으로 듣는 것이 아니라 각 과목 선생님께 끊임없이 질문하여 자신의 궁금증을 해결하고 교사가 지적하는 학습 내용의 부족함이라든지 학습 태도에 대해서 개선하려고 노력하는 학생이었습니다. 점점 나아지는 학습태도는 학생의 성취동기를 높여주었고, 자신이 목표를 하나씩 이뤄나가는데 도움이 되었습니다.

위 학생은 교우관계가 매우 좋았습니다.
궂은 일에 대해 언제나 솔선수범하였기 때문에 친구들이 믿고 의지하는 학생이었습니다. 친구의 어려운 사정을 알면 그냥 넘어가지 못하고 키다리 아저씨처럼 남몰래 도와주며 용기를 북돋아 주는 역할을 하기도 하였습니다. 말로만 우정을 강조하는 것이 아니라 실천을 통해서 진정한 친구가 무엇인지를 보여주는 학생입니다.

I’m Ja-yeon Park’s homeroom teacher in 3rd grade of Dong-A girls high school.

Ja-yeon is very active in study and interpersonal relationship. Especially, she is interested in domestic and international social issues. I was impressed when we had a debate class after reading the book “The Ball Shot by a Midget”, which covers issues in Korean society, she suggested various alternatives and tried to solve them with her classmates. She also has an interest into in other countries’ issues. I was surprised when she read international news and presented her thoughts in class. As she has an experience of studying abroad in Dubai, She has much more information about politics and social issues in the Arab world than other students. She played a role in introducing and sharing all of information so that other people can understand it easily.

She is into foreign language as well.
She is curious about new things and willing to learn those including other countries’ languages even a little. Based on her personality and experiences, I think she has a lot of potential of studying language in depth in university. I remember she tried to participate even in the lecture classes by asking questions to resolve her curiosity and she made her efforts to improve herself on what she missed in learning and her learning attitude by listening teacher’s advices. Improved learning attitude gave her high motivation in study and it helped her to accomplish her own goals one by one.

She has a great relationship with friends.
She is the one to trust and rely on among her friends because she always takes the lead regardless how difficult it is. When someone is having a hard time, she approaches to him/her to help and encourage him/her like Daddy-Long-Legs. She shows what the true friendship means by her act, not by her words.

If you define a talented person in global society as someone who has a spirit for challenge to participate the new world and has a proactive attitude to understand its culture, she is the right person who has all the traits that qualifies and I highly recommend her with confidence.
