If this is a simple report of an MRI scan, it will be written concise style. As a report of a scan, it is not talking about function, but about what can be seen. Here is the only example I can find on the web of what I have in mind: archneurpsyc.ama-assn.org/cgi/reprint/24/4/861.pdf

Probably the question might be rephrased - in English medical texts the modifiers "normal/proper" would refer to the pituitary function more than to the manner of preservation.
The Polish text says: "usunięcie masy nowotworowej przy bezwzględnej konieczności zachowania prawidłowo funkcjonującej przysadki".

"Funkcjonalny magnetyczny rezonans jądrowy (ang. functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging, fMRI) – wyspecjalizowana odmiana obrazowania rezonansu magnetycznego. Za pomocą tej metody mierzona jest hemodynamiczna odpowiedź ośrodkowego układu nerwowego. Od początku lat dziewięćdziesiątych fMRI stał się dominującą metodą obrazowania mózgu ze względu na niską inwazyjność, brak promieniowania jonizującego i stosunkowo szeroki dostęp."
The piece says that MRI is a non-invasive technique to show the nervous system working (when it is). Obviously you test the pituitary function mostly in the blood. However, if part your head is dead, the MRI is going to show it - is there any sense to dispute?
